1. Message from The Chief Executive

I hope you are well and enjoying the warmer weather?

We are starting to see more push towards returning to office-based working. We want to plan

carefully for this, and we also understand that WFH really suits some people.

Over the coming weeks we will be seeking your thoughts on office vs home working and your

teams will be planning how this will work - watch this space!

Stay safe,

Mary

Dr Mary Ryan

Chief Executive

2. Let our stars shine – the PC24 Staff Awards 2021

It’s been a challenging 12 months to say the least so here’s the perfect opportunity for you to

recognise and reward our colleagues and nominate them for one of the PC24 Staff Awards 2021.

Who’s stood out and shone for you, which team has made the difference, the choice is yours.

All of the information that you will need to vote is available here.

The nominations window is open for three weeks only, closing on Friday 11th June, so please do get

involved and let's celebrate all our wonderful staff at PC24!

3. IT Update - Damijan Goljat

As part of our commitment to deliver the best support and work experience to home workers, we are

currently in process of migrating our users from LogMeIn (LMI) to VPN service. The VPN service will

enable anyone with PC24 laptop to be connected to the headquarters systems directly. This will mean

that the S (shared drive) and H (home drive) will now be available from your work device. The clinical

systems, Adastra and EMIS, will also be available for staff to edit Word and Excel documents and

use Outlook desktop application via Office 365.

Some of our staff may feel that they would benefit from a Softphone (PC24 telephone extension at

home). This feature allows users to record phone conversations. Staff would need to gain approval

from their line manager as there is an additional cost involved. If you would like any further details

about this option, please contact us.

Secondly a reminder around when you have recruited a new member of your team, and the IT

logistics regarding equipment and options. Some of the options that are available to you, or your team

may not be available to new staff, due to hardware/software limitations, licencing constrains or

additional costs. Therefore, could you please contact and discuss individual’s IT requirements with the

IT team first, ideally at least two weeks before they join PC24. This will allow sufficient time to set

things up, particularly around the procurement of some devices and systems may take extra time to

organise.

IT Update - Damijan Goljat (continued)

Finally, while we are saying goodbye to LogMeIN system, we are currently working on delivering our

first ever Cirtix implementation at PC24; this will be a world class solution for application and desktop

virtualisation with aim to further modernise our IT estate and provide more flexible ways for remote

working including options for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).

As always if you have any IT issues or queries can be reported via our dedicated IT Service

desk: https://pc24.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals

4. The tracks of your years

In last week’s issue we announced that we were compiling a list of your favourite 7 songs to upload

onto Spotify that will be the PC24 soundtrack. Our CEO, Mary Ryan, got the party started and

submitted her tunes which have been added to the playlist here.

So, to remind you all, each week we want one of you to submit your 7 special songs, why you chose

them and your favourite. so that you can tune in and turn off from the world, briefly. Please send your

sounds to the communications team.

This week it’s the turn of Mark Scott, Communications Officer, to share his sounds.

“ 7 songs…I could name 7 million, and still think of more, but following the Spotify etiquette, I've

selected one of the daily plays from last weekend, seems safer that way..enjoy!”

1. Love reign over me – The Who I've been a Who fan since forever and first saw them at Wembley

stadium in 19**. The song is taken from Quadrophenia; great songs, great story and probably the best

album cover ever.

2. Black Dog – Led Zeppelin. Life should never e completely unledded…Jimmy Page, the master.

3. Back in Black – AC/DC. The Aussie riffmeisters that sets heads a-banging.

4. Losing my religion – R.E.M. Always time for some R.E.M. and this is a special tune.

5. London Calling – The Clash. Great band, great tune and again great album cover.

For me, along with the Damned, the best bands from the punk era.

The tracks of your years (continued)

6. There Is a Light That Never Goes Out – The Smiths. The Morrisey/Marr combo was a big part of

my soundtrack to the 80’s. I could have picked more, but this one stands out for me.

7. Stone Cold Crazy – Queen. Freddie Mercury, genius, and the Live Aid performance was a perfect

20 minutes, a group that knew how to rock you.

Favourite, difficult. Another day, another 7 tracks, but I’ll go with The Who, or REM, no Queen, see I

told you it was difficult.

5. Reporting IT incidents on Datix

Recently a number of IT issues have been reported on Datix as incidents. Please be aware that

unless an incident has occurred as a result of an IT issue, this should be reported directly to the IT

Service desk so that the IM&T team can look into resolving the issue right away.

If an incident has been caused as a result of an IT issue, then please report this on Datix, as well as

reporting on the IT Service desk.

If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact the Quality & Governance team

at [email protected].

6.Sefton residents advised to ‘beat the heat’ during heatwave

Healthcare professionals and Sefton Council are advising residents to keep cool during the warm

weather, by planning ahead and taking precautions while enjoying the sunshine.

With temperatures up to 25 degrees Celsius forecasted in Sefton this week, people are being

reminded to be aware of the risks of hot weather and to take extra care of themselves and others. You

can find out more about keeping sun-safe here.

7. Are You a Manager Looking for On-Line Learning and Support?

and access support and there is also a range of tool and resources to

8. Volunteers’ Week - The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the

service of others.

We are currently celebrating Volunteers’ Week 2021, a time for everyone to say thanks for the

contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering. Southport and

Ormskirk hospitals are one of many organisations celebrating the difference volunteers make

and thanking them for all their time and dedication. You can learn more about their volunteering

opportunities here, or simply contact your preferred organisation or charity.

9. Chris Krelle – the new Mayor of Prescot

Congratulations to our very own Chris Krelle who has recently been inaugurated as Prescot

Town Mayor for the year 2021/2022. Chris, Medical Student & GP Trainee Administrator for

PC24 is currently the youngest Mayor of Prescot and the first openly gay one also. Chris, we all

wish you every success for your year in office.

10. Thank you RotaMaster team

We’ve received the following ‘thank you’ from Dr Emily Grace Kendal, LUFT, to the RotaMaster

team.

“I would like to pass on my thanks to the RotaMaster team, for all the communication

updates we get. I've been absent through sickness and have returned to

work with amended duties for the past few weeks, following a relapse in my multiple sclerosis.

Page 7: Staff COMMUNICATIONS

Thank you RotaMaster team (continued)

This has left a fair few gaps and cancellations of a lot of my shifts, which the RotaMaster team have

been brilliant about and have been really kind and supportive regarding this.

on Monday 7th June at 9:15pm.You will not be able to access RotaMaster, NetMaster or the app
