For my paper I decided to choose a television show that my two year

daughter loves. The show is called Team mi!oomi and it is on "ick #r. I amnot a $an o$ every show that is on this station% &ut Team mi!oomi is a very

educational math show. The show is a&out two tiny super heroes who have a

pro&lem to solve at the &eginning o$ the show. 'uring the course o$ the show

they have to solve di(erent pu!!les and pro&lems that all relate to math.

The )rst characteristic is modeling. The characters o$ the show model $or the

viewer how to play the game. Sometimes they model how to count* )nd the

correct shape or how to decide what pattern comes ne+t in the pu!!le. ,$ter

modeling how to play the game% the characters give the viewer thinking time

in order to )gure out the -uestion.

ro&lem solving is another attri&ute that this television show has. The show

is &ased on one &ig pro&lem that they tiny super heroes have to solve $rom

the &eginning o$ the show. 'uring the course o$ the show% the super heroes

and the viewer have to work together to solve the smaller pro&lems. Each o$

the smaller pro&lems helps them resolve the &igger challenge at the end.

Throughout the entire show the viewer is rewarded when they )nish each o$

the mini pu!!les. Sometimes they get a &adge or a sticker on the screen.

They also receive the reward o$ &eing a&le to continue on their /ourney to

help save or solve the &ig pu!!le at the end.

This television show is only hal$ an hour long so throughout the entire show

they give immediate $eed&ack. 0hen they ask a -uestion to the viewer they

give the viewer ade-uate wait time to answer. Immediately a$ter the viewer

answers a -uestion they are given the answer or shown the correct answer.

This helps the viewer to know i$ their answer was correct or not.

'uring the entire show the viewer has many opportunities $or drill and

practice. They have several ways to count &y 12% count how many o&/ects%

)gure out which pattern goes ne+t% or what shape is missing. Every episode

is di(erent $rom the last% even though they all teach and practice various

    math skills.
