The man is accused of hacking his wife’s leg with a tomahawk, stabbing her in the wrist and head with a fork, and hitting her with a plastic chair during an argument at the weekend. Police say they were called at around 9pm on Friday when the fight at a home in Ellery Drive was taking place. When they arrived the victim told officers her husband had hit her with a tomahawk and stabbed her head and wrist with a fork. The woman said her husband had also dragged her from a car earlier in the night and kicked her to the head and stomach. She was taken to Alice Springs Hospital and received nu- merous stitches. She was discharged yesterday. The man was charged with aggra- vated assault and two counts of being armed with an offensive weapon. He will appear in court today. Call to set grog price A FLOOR price on al- cohol would help sup- port the NT Govern- ment’s ‘‘Enough is Enough’’ alcohol re- forms, according to the People’s Alcohol Action Coalition (PAAC). Spokesman John Boffa said the alcohol reforms would assist a limited number of people to cut down their drinking, but more needed to be done. He said: ‘‘If we are serious about trying to reduce alcohol con- sumption to some- thing approaching the national average, then implementing a floor price is the single most significant action the NT can take. ‘‘A floor price would reduce the amount of harm that occurs in the first place. It would also enable the re- moval of some irrat- ional aspects of cur- rent restrictions.’’ Dr Boffa said the floor price would make measures such as Al- cohol Banning No- tices, the Alcohol and Other Drugs Tri- bunal, and the SMART Court, far more effective. More than 200 nomi- nations have been re- ceived for four categories. Chamber of Commerce executive officer Kay Eade said: ‘‘The winners will be announced on Sat- urday evening at a gala dinner at the Golf Club MC’d by Mark Mitchell. ‘‘After the awards, there will be entertainment pro- vided by Scott and Samantha Dann.’’ Tickets are $125 for Chamber members and $140 for non-members, in- cluding a three-course meal, drinks and enter- tainment. Korrie Harmer receives her prize from Advocate manager Dallas Frakking Korrie $1500 richer KORRIE Harmer is $1500 richer and plans to use her extra dough to get away to Broome for a holiday. She said: ‘‘Well, I did say I’d love a trip to Broome or I’d like to get a new TV and set-top box and go digital. ‘‘I’ve never been to Broome before, so I’m leaning towards that. ‘‘It’ll be a couple of months before I go. ‘‘I never did make it up there when my husband was still alive. It’s just me and my dogs now, but I’ll be leaving them at home.’’ Korrie said she wanted to go to Broome in August.
