ROSARY BEFORE ALL MASSES IN MAY In our Catholic Faith, the month of May is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, one of the best known of all
Catholic devotions. The Rosary begins 25 minutes before Mass is to start. You are invited to please arrive a little early, bring your Rosary and pray with us.
SCRIPTURE CORNER CONTINUALLY PRAISING GOD In both the first reading and the Gospel we are told about Christ’s glorious ascension into heaven. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reminds us that Christ has been seated at God’s right hand in heaven, above eve-ry choir of angels. There might be a temptation to stay at an awed distance from Jesus Christ. However, the tone of today’s readings is far from that temptation. The tone is exultant and the message is urgent. We are to be His witnesses, and the Gospel describes the first witnesses this way: “[W]ith great joy . . . they were con-tinually in the temple praising God” (Luke 24:53). How can we continually praise God? The answer can be found in the second reading, in which Paul prays that God will give us a “Spirit of wisdom and revelation” in order to know Christ clearly (Ephesians 1:17). We cannot stand at a distance. We are to be enlightened and empowered. ———-Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
QUILTERS The St. Thomas Quilters group held a 3 day “Sew in” and created over 20 quilts to be do-nated to the NICU at Me-morial Hospital! 10 la-dies participated! God Bless these ladies and the babies that receive their gifts.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL St. Thomas is hosting a Catholic Kidz Camp Pro-gram (VBS) The Vatican Express with St. Jerome. Dates: June 6-10, 2016 Times: 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Location: SRE building/church For further inquiries, please contact Sr. Cecilia: 868-3774 or email [email protected]. In person registration will take place after all the Masses this weekend, May 7th & 8th. The green registration
form can be found in the display cabinets in the church, in the cabinet outside the parish office, and in the SRE building. Please register by May 15th to reserve a spot for your child at Vacation Bible School.
TUITION ASSISTANCE (Grades K-12) There is a fund available through the parish to help provide extra tuition assistance for parish families who attend Mass here on a regular basis and use their church support envelopes or the electronic method of making weekly contributions. This fund is in addition to the direct subsidy paid by the parish to the operating budget of the schools. Applications are available as follows: St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School families apply through FACTS (see the school office). St. Patrick High School, St. Stani-slaus and Our Lady Academy may pick up an application at the parish office. All applications should be completed by the deadline which is May 15, 2016. Applications are reviewed confidentially and indi-vidually. As directed by the diocese, the parish has budg-eted $92,920.94 to help families who have children in Grades K-12 with Catholic school tuition for 2016-2017. If you have any questions or concerns regarding Catholic school tuition or if you want additional infor-mation, please contact the parish office or the school of-fice. Please do not hesitate to inquire—these funds are available for all families as a way to help pay tuition in the Catholic school system. Don’t forget the deadline: May 15, 2016.
HOW TO LOWER YOUR CATHOLIC SCHOOL TUITION? A lower rate of tuition is available for families with students in Grades K-12 at St. Vincent de Paul School, St. Patrick High School and Our Lady Academy. How do you avail of that lower rate of tuition? By apply-ing for parish subsidy—a form is available at the school office. To be eligible for the parish supplemented (or sub-sidized) rate of tuition, a registered family must be attend-ing Mass at St. Thomas on a regular basis and using the church support envelopes or the electronic method of con-tributing regularly to the church. We appreciate the sup-port of our school families. The request for subsidy form should be turned in to the parish office for completion.

HOLY LAND GIFTS- OLIVE WOOD CARVINGS FOR SALE AFTER MASSES Saida & George Rashmawi, who are volun-teer members from the Roman Catholic Church in Bethlehem in the Holy Land, will be visiting our par-ish the weekend of May 14/15. They will speak to us about the Christian struggle in the Holy Land. They will also have some beautiful Olive Wood carvings which are all handmade by the Christian people in Bethlehem, for sale after all the Masses this weekend. The purpose of this visit is to help maintain the exist-ence of the Catholic people in the Holy Land. Catho-lic Christians were once the majority in that land but the percentage has now dropped to less than 1.5%. Please take time to look at the carvings, make a pur-chase and help this church maintain a presence in the very land where our Lord was born, where he preached the Good News and where his Kingdom was first established. These carvings make great sacramen-tal gifts that have an added special significance given where and why they were made.
