Beloved parishioners of St Therese, today the Church cele-
brates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. It is one of
the doctrines of the Church that has generated some contro-
versies in the past and even today among some theologians.
This is probably because we do not have direct references
from the scriptures. However, we have several allusions to
this fundamental truth of our faith; that there are three
Persons in one God, equal in divinity yet distinct in personali-
ty.
The early Christians arrived at this doctrine when they ap-
plied their God-given reason to the revelation which they had
received in faith. In several passages in the Sacred Scrip-
tures, Jesus spoke about the Father who sent him (the Son)
and about the Holy Spirit whom he was going to send. Jesus
did say, “I and the father are one”. In another instance he
said that the Father had given him (the Son) all that he has
and that he in turn has given to the Holy Spirit all he has re-
ceived from the Father. In this we see the unity of purpose
among the three persons of the Trinity.
Modern theologians teach and truly so that the Trinity is a
good model for a perfect society and the Church. Yes! If the
Trinity is properly understood, it becomes a part of our faith
and life as Christians, especially as Catholics as we invoke the
Trinity consciously or unconsciously most of the times in our
day to day practices.
Through our constant invocation of the Most Holy Trinity,
the Church assures us of God’s triple protection over his chil-
dren. Therefore on this solemn celebration of the Triune
God, may their fellowship and understanding help each and
everyone us remain one and united in our mission of bearing
witness to the Risen Lord. Amen

Solemnity of the Holy Trinity
“Go and make disciples of all nations . . . ”
Matthew 28:16-20
It is hard to be in most places in the world
without seeing people of all generations using
a cell or “smart” phone to call or text or email
someone on the other side of the planet, or sit-
ting across the room. We have come a long
way. Or have we? More than half of the
world's population has never seen or used a
cell or “smart” phone, or any other kind of
phone. On a hillside in Galilee Jesus, without
the aid of any kind of phone, commissioned
His disciples [and us] to “Go and make disci-
ples of all nations.” Despite two previous vis-
its to the disciples in the upper room in Jeru-
salem, they still had doubts. Now, more than
two thousand years after His Resurrection
half the world does not know Jesus. If half of
the world’s population is without a cell or
“smart” phone, or any other phone, that is un-
fortunate [or maybe not]. But half of the
world’s population with no knowledge of Jesus
must be a real disappointment to Him. Are we
doing our part to “make disciples of all na-
tions?” What if Jesus is taking names and
making notes?**************************************
