God and St. Pius X certainly look after us because we have no hall to accommodate the huge number of families we have present at our outdoor night of entertainment. The children certainly made me proud and the dancing leaders who helped with the choreography. Thank you boys and girls you were superb and certainly have talent. Who needs a lot of practise. I only commenced the classes in Week 4 (1 hr a week) except for the 4 days before the concert. I already have ideas for next year. When reflecting upon the night we could clearly see the “Happiness” that exists in our lovely school and the team spirit among our children. Thank you parents for the beautiful costumes! Last but not least thank you to our P & F Executive and helpers Anthony Chapmen, Lee Schwager, Alan Hall, Hayley Atkins, Naomi Coady, Bec Jones and anyone else who helped feed all the crowd. Thank you Mrs Hart for being our official photographer—check the website photo gallery. First time ever at our concert a fabulous Indian dancer. Thank you Sandra. Year 6 parents, a reminder that all Grad dinner money is due today. Thank you to those who have paid. Children leaving St. Pius X We have a waiting list for Year 2 next year so if your children are not coming back to St. Pius X in 2014, please call into the office and collect an Exit form. Congratulations St. Pius X As a surprise to me, my daughter informed Eddie McGuire of our 40 years (as he is my favourite TV personality). He replied with a photo enclosed. Congratulations Leaders 2014 Last Wednesday the whole school heard Year 5 deliver their campaign speeches. They were excellent and mentioned some important points on “What it means to be a leader in a Catholic school”. Thank you Year 5. Our school captains are Madison Jones and Will Schwager. Congratulations From the Principal THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK The Hail Mary I don’t know why this is so, but if you say the Hail Mary, you will have instant consolation. I used to try to figure this out intellectually, but I have to admit that I don’t know why it’s true—it just is. My father, who was not a Catholic, saw action in World War II, and he told me “Whatever the bombs started flying, and people were diving for cover and thinking they were about to due, the one thing that brought me consolation was hearing those Catholic boys saying, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee….” From St. Brigid’s Sunday bulletin

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

The Hail Mary I don’t know why this is so, but if you say the Hail Mary, you will have instant consolation. I used to try to figure this out intellectually, but I have to admit that I don’t know why it’s true—it just is. My father, who was not a Catholic, saw action in World War II, and he told me “Whatever the bombs started flying, and people were diving for cover and thinking they were about to due, the one thing that brought me consolation was hearing those Catholic boys saying, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee….”

Primary NRL Clinic Day

This Wednesday (27th Nov) we will be visited by members of the NRL development team where they will be introducing us to

Backyard League.

NRL Backyard League is an exciting initiative introducing students to Rugby League in a safe, non-competitive and fun envi-

ronment. The program equips students and teachers with the tools to play a version of Rugby League in any environment

while delivering important education, health and welfare messages. Accredited and professional NRL staff will be delivering

this exciting program to our primary students (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6).

All competing students will receive a free footy!

Diocesan Sporting Trials

Last week we had ten students from Years Four and Five trial for various summer sports to hopefully gain selection for the

Diocese of Bathurst. St Pius X had a very successful day!

Congratulations to Tom Coady who was selected for cricket; Sam Taylor and Connor Angus were selected in touch foot-

ball while Maddy Croft and Georgie Conway were selected for basketball. These five athletes will now trial for the Polding

sports teams early next year.

To all who competed we thank you for representing St Pius X with such sportsmanship and manners.

Year Six Fete

Year Six will be holding their annual fete on the 5th of December between 11.00am and 12.30pm. Please read their invite

letter attached to the newsletter for further details. One of the main stalls of the fete in the White Elephant stall, if you have

items that you consider to be category of your trash but someone else’s treasure we would appreciate the donation. These

items can given to any year six student or sent to the school office. Thank you in advance.

Scholastic Book Club: All orders are due back on tomorrow, Tuesday, November the 26th by 9:10am.

Please ensure you put the correct amount of money in a well-sealed envelope and place it in the

Book Club Box at the office.

Returning Books All borrowing has ceased for the year as it is time to stock take. This

means that ALL books must be returned as soon as possible. A replacement fee of $10 per

book will be charged if books are not returned. The library is still open before school and

during second half lunch for children to read and play.

Christmas tree Would anyone have a second hand Christmas tree, about 120cm high, available to do-

nate to the Library? We would love to put one on display.

Thank you, Bernadette O’Shaughnessy Teacher/Librarian

We need your help to cover many new classroom books and readers! Do you have some

spare time to call into the library on Thursday the 5th of December to help cover books? We

have purchased many classroom books that need to be covered to make them last longer but we

need your help!! If you could spare an hour or two it would make a great difference because

covering books is VERY time consuming. We will have the contact/plastic, tape, scissors – eve-

rything you need – but we just need you to bring it all together. There will even be tea/coffee to

sustain you! Please give the school a call to let Marg know if you are able assist.
