All 2018 Calendar Raffle tickets must

December 31! (They cannot be mailed)

With the Advent Season coming to a close, the Church now enters into the Season of Christmas. This is the point in time where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and honor the point in history when God enters our humanity in order to redeem us from our sins.

This would not have been possible if it were not for the “yes” given by Mary the Mother of God. This yes that was given at the time of the Annunciation comes to a climax at the Nativity of our Lord in Bethlehem. It is the same yes that allowed Mary to humbly persist in

following the will of God even to the point of standing by her Son’s side at the hour of His death on Calvary. Mary’s “yes” is something that we are all called to imitate. We are all called to, in some way, make that yes to the will of God in our lives. This, however, is not always easy, but it is possible.

Just as Mary consented to the will of God in a perfect way 2,000 years ago and made way for the coming of the Messiah, even today she desires to help you to receive the love of God in an intentional and personal way. Her greatest desire is for your soul to be in heaven. The only way that this can come about is if we assent to the love that God has for us personally. In other words, to give our “yes” to God’s will in our lives.

This Christmas Season, ask Mary for help to make that “yes” to God’s will in your life. If you do not know God’s will for you then ask her that too. She is waiting to help you. Go to Mary.

Fr. Adam Bradley

OUR PARISH NEWS 4

A new year will begin shortly. “Lord, we pray, make this the year abortion is ended in our state!” Pray through Genesis 2:7.

Currently, we have one open hour on the adoration schedule for the Chapel of Divine Mercy being covered by long-term substitutes. We also have adorers wanting a partner to assist them. E-mail [email protected] or call 920-733-0575, ext. 340, to set up a regular time to be with Jesus. Come! Experience His peace in this busy, hectic world.

Come join us for an hour of prayer for those who suffer from addictions. This will be held on Thursday evenings after the 5:30 pm Mass in the Chapel, 6:00-7:00 pm. The Rosary and Prayers in honor of the Precious Blood of Jesus will begin at 6:15 pm. At 7:00 pm, a prayer team will be available for private prayer with anyone interested. Any questions, call Catherine at 1-608-513-0343.

Are you or your loved ones in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing? Prayer can help. Healing Prayer Ministry Teams are available after the 8:30 am Mass in the Deacons’ Conference Room. If you are unable to make it on Sunday, you may also make an appointment for another time by calling Dcn.Dan/Diane Zajicek at 380-0138 or John/Barb Bell at 731-3856.

The purpose of our ministry is to offer a tangible symbol of God’s love and comfort through the giving of prayer shawls. We knit or crochet shawls to be given to people in our parish community in physical, spiritual, or emotional need of God’s loving embrace. The shawls have been blessed and have many prayers woven into the stitches. A prayer shawl request box is located on the counter in the West Narthex. If you know of someone who could use this gift of healing, please fill out a form. Our meetings are on the third Tuesday of the Month at either 9:30 am or 6:30 pm, Contact Mary at 731-3953.

Are you interested in preparing for the upcoming Sunday readings on an ongoing basis? A group meets from 6:30-7:30 am every Tuesday in the Gresl Room. If interested, please contact Jim Eichstadt at 731-1706. There is a website available that will help you obtain a better understanding of the three readings. You can make Sunday’s readings part of your personal prayer during the week. Visit www.liturgy.slu.edu for prayer, spirituality, and scripture resources.

Each Saturday at 9:00 am, pro-life people from the Fox Cities meet for a Rosary Vigil to end abortion. The location is the planned parenthood office at 508 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Appleton. The Vigil lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. It is a powerful witness and you are invited.

Please keep in mind when you buy Kwik Trip gift/gas cards, St. Pius receives 5% back on gas purchases, and 10% on in-store purchases, excluding cigarettes, gift cards, lotto/lottery

tickets, and postage stamps.

We are looking for more parishioners to help sell gas cards at all the Masses so we can have coverage for both entrances. Also, if another person volunteers for Sunday night’s 6:00 pm Mass, we can set up a rotating schedule for Sunday nights. Please contact Terry Kuehl at 733-0575 or email [email protected] if you can help.

Remember, you can use your “4 cents off a gallon receipts” from Fleet Farm toward your gas purchase. You must pay inside to have the coupon honored.

!"# !$%Did you know that the Silent Auction at our ParishFest is a major source of fundraising for us? Thanks to all your amazing donations, we

create an event that has auction items to please everyone. This year while you are doing your holiday shopping, consider picking up a gift for the Silent Auction. Any gifts purchased this year may be dropped off at the Parish Office and stored until ParishFest. You may also give cash donations for us to purchase items that we feel will bring in lots of bids. Also—if you receive a gift that is a duplicate and you don't want to deal with exchanging it—consider re-gifting it to the Silent Auction (things that would be good are electronics, toys, and other items we can build a basket around). So if you are looking for 2017 tax donations, please consider donating a gift basket, single item, or simply money for us to do the shopping. If you need ideas, please call Jackie at 851-2550.

Marquette School Campus is accepting bags to recycle through April as part of a Nationwide Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge! Collection Bins are set up in the West Narthex. Please help our school try to win a bench and clean up our Earth! We collected

370 pounds in October and 546 pounds in November.

Bring us your grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, Ziploc, and other reclosable bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. ~Marquette Campus Thanks You!

At St. Pius X, about 25% of all sacrificial giving for the calendar year is received in just the two months of November & December. We appreciate these year-end gifts but need to share guidelines we have to follow in order to accept these toward your 2017 contributions.

The IRS allows individuals to deduct charitable donations from their income in the year the donations were delivered. Gifts delivered in person to the Parish Office can easily be received and recorded. However, when a donation is mailed, especially donations, we use the postmark date to determine when the donation was made.

The Parish Office will close on Friday, December 29, at 12:00 pm, and will be closed January 1. If you will be dropping off your donation, please stop in before 12:00 noon on Friday, December 29.

Thank you for your continued generosity and support of the parish. Merry Christmas, Terry Kuehl, SPX Business Manager

The Sunday after Christmas, Father John was looking at the nativity scene prior to packing away the figures when he noticed the baby Jesus was missing.

Immediately, Father went to the phone to call the police. But as he was about to do so, he saw little Matthew with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the infant, Jesus. Father John walked up to Matthew and said, “Well, Matthew, where did you get the little infant”? Matthew replied honestly, “I took him from the Church, Father John”. “And why did you take him?”

With a sheepish smile, Matthew said, “Well, about a week before Christmas, I prayed to little Lord Jesus”. “I told Him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas, I would give Him a ride around the block in it.”

(Merry Christmas, everyone!)
