ADULT CHOIR: Thanks to all who came to practices to prepare for this holy feast/season. We will be singing at the Christmas Eve Mass at 4:00 pm. And we hope to sing for New Year’s morning at 9:30 am Mass so that we can sing at least some of the Christmas music one more time.
JUNIOR CHOIR: We will be having another practice on January 3, 2012, to prepare for singing at 9:30 am Mass on January 8, the feast of Epiphany. We will also begin preparing for Catholic School’s Week liturgies.
SOLEMNITY OF MARY THE MOTHER OF GOD AND SUNDAY MASS
DEAR PARENTS OF RE STUDENTS - Some mighty big changes are coming our way...but only to the RE Schedule for January. First, Confirmation Session #6 for the Confirmation Candidates has been moved up to January 4, 2012. Parent Catechist Conferences, too, have been moved up earlier to Wednesday evening, January 11, 2012. Please be on the lookout for the blue envelopes sent home with your youngest RE student this past Wednesday evening, which contains the Conference Schedule. Also, please note that students in Grades 2 and 11 will be having their regular classes that evening, January 11, 2012, at their regular times as they prepare to receive their prospective Sacraments. Thank you very much for your involvement with our RE Program, and the trust that you have placed in us to assist you with your children's faith formation. May you all enjoy a most blessed Christmas season! Mr. Simons
: This year the Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God falls on a Sunday, which means that the celebration of the solemnity’s Mass is the celebration for Sunday. The obligation to celebrate Mass on Sunday and the obligation to celebrate the holy day of obligation are the same this year. You do not need to celebrate Mass twice in order to fulfill your obligations. However, please note that your envelope packets have both a regular Sunday envelope and a feast day envelope. We depend both on
your Sunday giving and your gift to meet our ministry needs.
ATTENTION CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES: If you are still in need of service hours, volunteers are needed for the St. Pius X/CUF Ham & Turkey Dinner. The shifts are as follows - Saturday, January 28, 9:00 AM for set-up / Sunday, January 29, 8:30-10:30 AM, 10:30-12:30, and 12:30-2:30 PM. Please see Mr. Simons for the sign-up sheet. Thank you! Mr. Simons HOLY TRINITY CALENDAR RAFFLE UNDERWAY

: The Church of the Holy Trinity is selling $20.00 chances in the annual calendar raffle. If you are interested in buying chances please contact the Holy Trinity parish office.
THE BLESSED JOHN PAUL II AREA FAITH MISSION GROUP: will meet on Sunday, January 8th at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Family in Silver Lake to discuss the annual Valentine’s Day Waffle Supper and Silent Auction. All members and those going to Guatemala this summer are asked to attend. We will meet in the church lower level.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEWS We thank all of you who are responding so generously to the Christ Our Life Capital Campaign. As of this week our parish has received $100,461.00 in pledges from 54 donors. These totals represent 31% of our goal from about 12% of our parish. While we are making progress, we still have a way to go to meet our goals. Please respond as you are able.
MARRIAGE MINUTE: WHY CAN’T MARRIAGE BE REDEFINED? : The word “marriage” isn’t simply a label that can be attached to different types of relationships. Instead, “marriage” reflects a deep reality – the reality of the unique, fruitful, lifelong union that is only possible between a man and woman. Just as oxygen and hydrogen are essential to water, sexual difference is essential to marriage. The attempt to “redefine” marriage to include two persons of the same sex denies the reality of what marriage is. It is as impossible as trying to “redefine” water to include oxygen and nitrogen. (USCCB.org, Marriage: Unique for a Reason)
