SACRAMENTAL LIFE

YOUTH MINISTRY

Confirmation Sunday, May 21 Bishop Michael Hoeppner will confirm our high school can-didates Sunday, May 21 at a special 2 p.m. Mass. Candidates and sponsors should gather by 1:20 p.m. in the Social Hall. We will take a group photo in the church at 1:30 p.m. All preparation materials and interviews must be completed by April 26.

St. Philip’s extends condolences to the family of Leland Auen, father of Valeri Olson who passed away on 4/20/2107. May he find rest and peace and may their family find comfort in God’s love.

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

The St. Philip’s Catholic Community wel-comes through the waters of baptism McKenzie Dianne Lapos, daughter of Stephen and Michelle Lapos. May she be filled with the Holy Spirit.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported my Confirmation project. The money donations, will be used to purchase airbeds, necessary clothing and shoes and other supplies needed by the students in transition in the Bemidji school district.

Getting Ahead in Bemidji… If you would like to volunteer for our program Getting Ahead in Bemidji, please go to www.signupgenius.com and do a search with this email address: [email protected] and you will find Getting Ahead in Bemidji. The link is: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e084ea4af23a1fd0-stvincent. We need volunteers for childcare, pick up meals, and snacks. Our St. Vincent de Paul group also needs volun-teers that would be willing to be the second person to go on home visits with us. No training is necessary. All volunteers do need to complete the Safe Environment training which can be done from St. Philip’s website. For more information call SVdP at 218-368-6606.

ABORTION: Harmful to Women

They say, “I a quick fix. It will solve your problems and allow you to go on with your life.” Reality: Few women have been told that having an abortion carries lasting physical, psychological and future-risk conse-quences. If they had been warned, would their “choice” have been abortion? - Human Life Alliance 2016-17 Stand Up publication, pg. 5; www.iwillstandup.com NEXT PARISH HOUR OF PRAYER AT PLANNED PARENTHOOD: Saturday, May 20, 10-11 a.m. Can’t stay the full hour? Stay for any length of time that works. All ages welcome. Questions call 218-368-9019.

Haiti 180 High School Mission Trip Meeting Our next Haiti180 High School Mission Trip will be Thursday May 11, at 6:30 pm in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton room. We will discuss ways to fundraise and how to ask for donations. There are a few spots remaining to join the mission trip. HOSPITAL MINISTRY

“… naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. Matthew 25:36 If you or a loved one has ever been hospitalized and some-one visited you and brought you communion, how did that make you feel? Did it bring you closer to God? Did you feel good knowing that prayers were being said for your recov-ery? Think about the opportunity to give back. St. Philip’s Hospital Ministry is a way to carry the healing comfort of the Gospel to hospitalized parishioners and their families by praying for them and ministering Holy Communion to them if they desire to receive. Each volunteer is asked to be re-sponsible for a visit one day per month. New volunteers will partner with an experienced minister until they are comfort-able on their own. Volunteers will be certified by Sanford. Please pray about visiting the sick. For more information, please contact Fr. Chuck, or Blake Quick at the church office, 444-4262; or Sharon Zarrett at 751-1606, or email her at [email protected].
