By Fr. Robert Barron (creator of the Catholicism series)

“Where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more.” Romans 5:20

Join us for this 4 week Retreat-on-DVD presentation concerning the seven Deadly Sins, those great spiritual blocks that inhibit our flourishing in relationship to God and to one another. After viewing Fr. Baron’s talk on DVD, we will break into small groups for discussions on reflection questions provided in the workbook. That’s not all! Fr. Barron presents the Seven Lively virtues that offer healing to our sin-sick souls and set us on the right path to salvation. This series is a message of hope to all those who seek to know Christ and to accomplish his will. This is a perfect way to spiritually prepare for Lent as well as the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

We have recently been blessed with a generous grant from the Knott Foundation that has allowed us to install a wireless system throughout the building, and purchase iPads for our 8th grade to begin our 1:1 computing initiative in middle school. Students are already using tablets, computers and, cell phones to connect and help with learning. Our program will meet students “where they are” and prepare them for the electronically filled world they will be joining.

First grade teacher, Mrs. Diane McCormick, was recognized at the FOCE dinner as St. John’s Teacher of the Year. This honor was bestowed on Mrs. McCormick by her colleagues who were asked to select an outstanding faculty member who demonstrated a high level of expertise in the subject matter, created a warm, learning environment, and made a difference in the school environment through leadership, dedication, and a sense of humor.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER : Thank you to all those who have been using Electronic Funds Transfer, or EFT, and also to those who have just recently signed up to participate in this dependable and easy way to give your weekly donations to St. Peter’s. However, it was brought to my attention that since there are several months that have 5 Sundays, we may be shorting the church. So, when deciding to give a weekly amount you can use this formula to correct this issue: Weekly amount x 52 weeks then divide by 12. This will give you a monthly amount that can be easily donated through EFT while still accounting for those months with 5 weeks. The EFT program allows St. Peter’s to be more accurate in budgeting monthly expenses. If you are interested in more information, please call Liz at 301-898-5111 ext. 19.
