FROM THE PASTOR’S DESKI have one bit of sad news and two bits of good news with this column. The sad news is that Fr. Lynch will be moving from the consortium as the new consortium begins. One bit of good news is Fr. Lynch has received a good assignment. He’ll become the parochial vicar at St. Joseph Cathedral. So you’ll probably still be able to see him on livestreams from the Cathedral.

The bigger good news is that Fr. Beal will remain as the parochial vicar with the new pastor Fr. Tim Hayes. The two of them will then take care of the consortium of St. Peter, St. Mary-Chillicothe, and St. Mary-Waverly. There is also going to be a religious priest joining them at some point in the near future. Fr. Milton Kiocha, of the Apostles of Jesus, will eventually be taking care of the institutions of southern Ohio (primarily prisons and the VA hospital).

Also, as this is our Missions weekend, I want to let you know of my appreciation of your support of the missions. I’ve been edified over the years to see your support of the various missionary organizations and of the various sponsorships and such we’ve done like with Mexico and Uganda in particular. May God bless you for your generosity towards this essential work of the Church.

In Christ, Fr. Hahn

Attention, all Catholic young men entering 9th-12th grade. Do you know where your life is going? The Lord Jesus has a great plan for you! You are invited to attend the Quo Vadis Retreat, spending time with other young men discerning God’s call. Quo Vadis is led by priests and seminarians of the Diocese of Columbus and is supported by the Diocesan Office of Vocations. Quo Vadis will be held July 26th-July 29th. The cost of the retreat is $40.00. For more information or to register, go to https://faceforwardcolumbus.com/quo-vadis/ or contact Michael Haemmerle (one of our summer seminarians) at [email protected] or contact Fr. Hahn.

The Bishop Flaget office has opened back up if you are in need of any assistance. Our hours through the rest of June will be Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Please feel free to call 740-774-2970 with any issues. Thank you for your continued support of Bishop Flaget School! We were fortunate to receive a Payroll Protection loan to help in these times, but we have felt a hit due to the loss of Bingo and our biannual dinner auction. We are also still $100,000.00 away from our HVAC goal. We ask that you continue your prayerful support of our school community. If you are able to donate, you may do so through bishopflaget.org or through the school office. Due to possible social distancing guidelines when we return to school in the fall, we are looking to hire aides as well as substitute aides and teachers. All employees must have Protecting God's Children, and a recent background check. Aides must have a high school diploma while substitute teachers must have a Bachelor's Degree. Any interested applicants may email Terrina Fahnestock at [email protected].

The 2nd Annual Food Drive for the St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry was a huge success! Many thanks going out to all the volunteers who helped unload cars and carry goods to the parish building on Saturday, June 13 – especially the Knights of Columbus members who graciously lent their assistance.

While totals will not be available until next weekend, we want to thank all the parishioners and residents of Ross County who donated food and toiletries – and also those who gave monetary donations. The generosity was absolutely overwhelming! Also, a very special thank you to Fr. Beal for praying over us and blessing the event, to Shirley and Bob Irwin for setting up their canopy which sheltered us from the rain and to Mary Elsass for providing a delicious lunch! God watched over us and truly blessed us! To Him be the glory.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Divine Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Two years ago, Dr. Rooney had books on our beautiful stained-glass windows published from the power point that former parishioners Ralph & LaRae Sorrell had put together. A supply of these books is now in the office once again and can be purchased for $10.00 each. To purchase, contact Jenny French at 740-774-1407 and set up an appointment for pickup.

SISTERHOOD of the FROGGED STITCHES would like to invite all who do sewing crafts, needle work, chrochet, or knit, etc. to join our Zoom nights from your home to share and just enjoy each other’s company while working on our individual projects. We Zoom Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. If interested, please call Karen Blumberg at 740-649-8964. Karen can explain how to Zoom and give the codes needed.
