Dear Parents and Members of St. Patrick’s School Community,

GIFTING MASS

We recently received a thank you letter from the St Vincent de Paul Society in Horsham for our contributions to this year’s Gifting Mass. Over 1336 items were collected, with a total value of over $4,000. These items will be used to help the needy in our regions. It was a great effort by everyone and is very much appreciated by those involved in the distribution.

FRIDAY 23 AUGUST - DRESS UP AND PARADE

Students (and staff) may come dressed as their favourite superhero or book character to celebrate Book Week. This year’s theme is "Reading is My Secret Power".

Students will also be designing a cape showcasing their own "secret powers".

A parade will be held in the hall at 2.50pm and parents, grandparents and friends are invited to come along.

WWSSA ATHLETICS AT WARRACKNABEAL

Ten of our senior students have qualified to compete in the West Wimmera level of athletics. This carnival will be held at ANZAC Park Warracknabeal. A canteen will be available at the event, but if you wish to buy lunch there it must be pre-ordered. Attached are permission notes for these students with all the information about the excursion, including the canteen order form. Please complete the cut off section at the bottom of the form (and the canteen order form) and return it to school as soon as possible, at the very latest by next Friday 16 August.

JUNIOR CLASS The Junior Class has been discussing past and present, and looked at ‘old fashioned games’. We thank Sienna and Tyi for creating hopscotch designs on the pavement. Rock paper scissors was also a favourite pastime. Mrs Creek

SENIOR CLASS Last Friday the senior students explored another type of procedural writing, cooking! They did a fantastic job following instructions from both the teachers and of course the recipes. The seniors had a lot of fun slicing, measuring, stirring, pouring, and finally baking their masterpieces! The class made a few extra honey joys, which they kindly shared with all of the junior students! We had some delicious teats on Friday for lunch. Have a go making honey joys with your child, it's lots of fun and really easy! The recipe is attached.
