Master of Ceremonies Alderman Ed Burke introduced Catherine O’Connell who sang the American and Irish national anthems, followed by Fr. Jack Clair for the invocation. Governor Pat Quinn greeted the audience and expressed his interest in visiting Ireland during this year of e Gathering. e Honorable Patrick ompson spoke on behalf of the Host Committee, referencing Patricia Daley Martino and Bridget Flanagan for their inspiration in starting the Partnership’s breakfast tradition. e audience enjoyed a video presentation from the visiting delegation from County Cork led by Councillor Barbara Murray, Mayor of Cork County. e guest of honor from the Irish Government, Joan Burton TD, Minister for Social Protection, escorted by Consul General Aidan Cronin, presented a report on economic conditions and challenges facing Ireland. Tourism Ireland generously provided two roundtrip tickets to Ireland for a lucky breakfast attendee. e winner was Deila Davis, a guest of host committee member Kevin Conlon. St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast Celebration

The Irish American Partnership’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast Celebration was held on Friday, March 15, at the Union League Club of Chicago on a cold, raw day with over 320 Chicagoans in attendance.

Master of Ceremonies Alderman Ed Burke introduced Catherine O’Connell who sang the American and Irish national anthems, followed by Fr. Jack Clair for the invocation. Governor Pat Quinn greeted the audience and expressed his interest in visiting Ireland during this year of The Gathering.

The Honorable Patrick Thompson spoke on behalf of the Host Committee, referencing Patricia Daley Martino and Bridget Flanagan for their inspiration in starting the Partnership’s breakfast tradition. The audience enjoyed a video presentation from the visiting delegation from County Cork led by Councillor Barbara Murray, Mayor of Cork County.

The guest of honor from the Irish Government, Joan Burton TD, Minister for Social Protection, escorted by Consul General Aidan Cronin, presented a report on economic conditions and challenges facing Ireland.
