I am so proud of the progress made by our diligent students!

Teachers have invited me into their classrooms to see hands-on science

experiments, special interactive lessons on the Smart Boards! Parents and

visitors were impressed by all of the incredible student work at our

Academic Fair. Tell a friend or neighbor what a wonderful education your

child is getting at St. Nicholas School.

The School Board has made some decisions in response to some of

the feedback you have given to me in conference and through the Summer

Enrichment Program Survey. Here are the highlights!

There will be a few more options available for next year at Dennis

Uniform; particularly for the Preschool students and the girls. The

particulars will be detailed in an addendum to the Parent Student

Handbook to be sent home before summer. Students may wear phased-

out items for one additional year!

We raised enough money to build a restroom in Room 5, and acquire

classroom furnishings and playground equipment with the help of the

Kallinikeion Foundation, the St. Nicholas Foundation, and private

donors who responded to Fr. Anthony’s passion for the new Preschool

Toddler Program!

Parents’ pleas for a total renovation of the gym bathrooms and

locker rooms have been heard! The Board has begun to gather support

for the project. The Boosters have pledged funding raised by the Jog-

A-Thon to get the ball rolling! We welcome the participation of

parents who are contractors, painters, masons, and those who have

resources that can help us update the facilities.

I am dedicated to maintaining our beautiful traditions and our

commitment to “Ongoing Excellence!”

It’s time to celebrate! The students have worked diligently all year to present the results of their achievements. We are proud of their efforts and we would like to share their accomplishments with you.

This is the time to invite friends to

admire student projects and discover St. Nicholas School!

School Gymnasium

UPDATE: The Academic Fair, once again, was an amazing sight to see. The

Gym was a glorious showcase for the students’ work; hung wall-to-wall with projects and reports. Table after table showed evidence of creativity and knowledge of subject matter. The evening was alight

with the enthusiasm of students and teachers alike. Thank you to all who attended and therefore gave support to our hard-working

students and staff.

Teacher Appreciation Week a Wonderful Success!!

Many thanks to each of our St. Nicholas parents for your

contributions to Teacher Appreciation Week! All of our teachers

and staff enjoyed themselves and truly know how much parents and

students value what they bring to our children every day.

The outpouring of donations was incredible and due to your

contributions each teacher received a gift card. Thank you to those

parents who made a delicious breakfast or snack which was lovingly

prepared for our teachers during the four days. The Pizza Cookery

along with the Teacher Appreciation Committee provided lunch on

Thursday for our teachers and staff. All who attended were able to

enjoy the afternoon, because of all the parents who volunteered to

watch the students. Thank you to each and every parent who made

the week a great success! The spirit of gratefulness and working

together for a common cause is alive and well at St. Nicholas

School!

I wanted to share with you a few notes the Teacher Appreciation Committee received:

“I would like to say thank you to another beautiful luncheon and week! Everything was

wonderful!”

“A HUGE thank you to all of you for everything you’ve

done for Teacher Appreciation Week! I feel so spoiled

and blessed to be part of such a wonderful school as St.

Nicholas. Every snack, lunch, cards from students, gift

card was so greatly appreciated. All my teacher friends

at public and other private schools were very envious.”

“Thank you so much for everything you did last

week. You went over and beyond every day and I

wanted to take a moment to thank you for spoiling us. I

seriously need to go on a diet!!”

Our school is comprised of generous and

thoughtful families and each of you is an

example of those characteristics. Thank you

again for celebrating our teachers and all they

do for our students.

8th GRADE SCIENCE

POPSICLE-STICK BRIDGE

Dmitri Schuyler-Linch with his Popsicle-Stick Bridge

The 8th Grade has transitioned

from chemistry to physics, and

we have begun creating

projects that test our subject

matter understanding as well

as our engineering skills.

The given assignment was to

construct a bridge that spans 8

inches, using only 50 Popsicle

sticks and white glue. Dmitri

Schuyler-Linch and Theo

Fox both constructed bridges

that met these requirements,

and held 60 pounds!
