St Matthias is a lively one and a half form entry primary school in the London borough of Hackney and serves a diverse community that is founded upon and promotes Christian teachings and values. St Matthias provides a safe and happy environment for all of our children and staff to learn, develop and excel in their academic and social education. We believe that our children have to be supported to achieve and prepare for their lives ahead. We instil the values and care needed to ensure they become responsible, confident and capable members of society. We are looking to recruit self-motivated, approachable and organised individuals to be part of our
administration team. We are looking to appoint a Administration Officer part time.
Our new administrator will join a very committed and hard-working staff body who want to ensure that

Our School
St Matthias is a one and half form entry school with a nursery and 270 children on roll.
We are a “Good” school (OFSTED September 2013), that now has its sights firmly set on becoming
an Outstanding school with the desire and motivation to ensure all our children achieve the highest
possible standards, due to excellent staff with the determination to ensure no child is left behind.
Our school is located in Stoke Newington, Hackney and is a short walk from Dalston Kingsland
Station. The school serves a richly diverse community that is founded upon and promotes Christian
teachings and values.
Our school enjoys an active partnership with the St Matthias local parish church and the LDBS.

Job Description - Administrator
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide of an efficient and effective reception, administrative and clerical support function for the school; and
To provide administrative and clerical support to school staff.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
To be responsible for the management of the school’s reception/office;
To maintain the various school databases for pupil and staff records;
To provide reception and administrative tasks; and
To provide administrative support to the Head of School and other members of staff as appropriate.
MAIN DUTIES:
To be responsible for the management of the school’s office, to provide administrative support to the Head of School and other members of staff as appropriate, and to provide reception and administrative tasks:
1. To ensure that all visitors to the school are welcomed in a polite, friendly, and efficient manner and providing hospitality as required.
2. To open and distribute incoming post and arrange the mailing of correspondence for the Head of School and other members of staff.
3. To arrange for outgoing post to be either collected or posted when required.
4. To provide information and assistance to, and with, all staff, parents/carers, pupils, members of the public and other agencies
as required. This includes dealing with enquiries and taking appropriate action using your own initiative, and the resolution or passing on of complaints to the appropriate member of staff.
5. To maintain a clear and tidy workspace.
6. To undertake general office duties including filing, photocopying and the drafting and typing of general correspondence, newsletters, reports and official statistical returns as necessary.
7. To co-ordinate the purchase of goods, services and supplies.
8. To produce and maintain the school’s information booklets.
9. To process purchase orders as appropriate.
10. To follow up outstanding monies and bad debts as appropriate.
11. To co-ordinate, process and maintain the Building Fund Income.
12. To administer of the school’s petty cash system and act as a cheque signatory.
13. To manage the receiving and banking of monies for the school as required.
14. To monitor the office and school stationery stock levels and order stock as appropriate.
15. To manage the ordering, stock control, distribution and accounts of the school uniform service to parents/carers.
16. To manage the administration of free and paid school meals, including the collection of monies, debits and credits, banking, returns to the LEA, and pupil travel passes.
17. To ensure high quality and accurate school newsletters are prepared, sent to parents and published on the school’s website or VLE each week.
18. To administer first aid in caring for injuries, comforting children with emotional difficulties, following and planning pupil support methods; and to ensure all first aid administered is recorded appropriately.

GENERAL:
This is not an exhaustive list of
duties and responsibilities, and
the postholder may be required
to undertake other duties which
fall within the grade of the job, in

This job description will be

The postholder is expected to
