A very powerful daily prayer

Many amazing occurrences and miracles have been attributed with this very simple but

powerful prayer. Commit to saying this prayer morning and evening.

O Jesus, King of Love, I put my trust in your merciful love.

ST IGNATIUS OF ANTIOCH

Born in Syria, Ignatius converted to Christianity and eventually became bishop of Antioch. In the year 107, Emperor Trajan visited Antioch and forced the Christians there to choose between death and apostasy. Ignatius would not deny Christ and thus was condemned to be put to death in Rome.

Ignatius is well known for the seven letters he wrote on the long journey from Antioch to Rome. Five of these letters are to churches in Asia Minor; they urge the Christians there to remain faithful to God and to obey their superiors. He warns them against heretical doctrines, providing them with the solid truths of the Christian faith.

The sixth letter was to Polycarp, bishop of Smyrna, who was later martyred for the faith. The final letter begs the Christians in Rome not to try to stop his martyrdom. "The only thing I ask of you is to allow me to offer the libation of my blood to God. I am the wheat of the Lord; may I be ground by the teeth of the beasts to become the immaculate bread of Christ."

Ignatius bravely met the lions in the Circus Maximus.

Call the parish office to add your loved ones in the service.

“Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the

future.” -Luke 13:8

Have you been praying for someone’s restoration? Are you frustrated that no answer has come? Maybe your

prayers are bearing fruit in a way you cannot see. Like the fig tree, maybe God is quietly cultivating the soil of

healing. Perhaps branches are being pruned in the life of your loved one. As you wait for God’s response, trust that your prayers will be answered. At just the right time, fruit

will come.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY APPEAL DIOCESE COLLECTION

October 17-18

Today is World Mission Sunday! In Scripture, we read that St Paul asked the Gentile Churches to take up a

collection to suppor the Church in Jerusalem. Now we are asked to reach out and support the young Churches

throughout the world. Your prayers and generous gifts to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith in the

collection today will help missionaries offer the poor of these areas practical help as they share the mercy of God.

Go out to the whole world through your gift in today’s collection! Thank you!
