St. Mary’s Catholic Church Rev. Joseph F. McDonald, III JCL, Pastor Deacon George Canney Located at the Corner of First & Polk, Moscow, Idaho May 31, 2020 Pentecost Sunday Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained. —John 20:22-23 A word from your pastor Dear Friends and Parishioners, At this point in time it may seem like things are leveling out and becoming "normal." One look around andyou might see your favorite restaurant opening up, meet friends downtown or take an easy stroll at the arboretum. However, when you go to Mass, it is at the school gym, everyone is requested to social distance and asked to wear a mask. For our parishioners at St. Mary's in Genesee the question becomes: "When are we going to be able to open and use our church?" There is no doubt that the coronavirus and pandemic are changing the way we look at things. Many changes will be necessary when it comes to gathering at church in Moscow and Genesee. We don't know exactly what those changes are but I believe we will be able to figure it out together. The disciples were given the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and that wisdom still belongs to us today. This is our time for a new Pentecost! Next week on June 4, 2020 the entire staff will be gathering for our first "post-Covid-19" meeting. We still don't know if it will be a Zoom meeting, face-to-face in the park or "social distanced" in the Family Center. It is our first attempt to grapple with what St. Mary's Genesee and St. Mary's Moscow will look like in the coming months. Everything from worship space to music to religious education is on the agenda. This will be the first of many meetings, and I will try and keep everyone in the loop. Please remember to keep our parishes in prayer on June 4th at 3:00. Peace! Fr. Joe This Week at St. Marys Sun. A word from your pastor Dear Friends and Parishioners, At this point in time it may seem like things are leveling out and becoming "normal." One look around and… you might see your favorite restaurant opening up, meet friends downtown or take an easy stroll at the arboretum. Please Welcome the Newest Members of our Church! This weekend at the Saturday Mass, we celebrated the Baptism of Mary Elizabeth Wells and Gerald Bright. They also received Confirmation along with Samuel Wells, and all three received Eucharist. These three individuals began their journey towards joining the Catholic Church in September. Because of the pandemic our Easter Vigil celebration had to be postponed until Pentecost. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Temporary Modified Mass Schedule and Location Change

As we resume holding Mass, all public liturgies must follow all CDC and State of Idaho social distancing guidelines. In order to accommodate parishioners during the weekend we are making some changes to the location and schedule of our Masses. Weekend Masses will be at the St. Mary's SCHOOL Gym.

• Saturday 5pm

• Sunday 8:30am

• Sunday 11:00am

• Please note the time changes on Sunday Daily Masses will be held at the church in Moscow at 8am Tuesday-Friday. Reconciliation will be available at the church in Moscow from 8am to 9am on Saturdays. Genesee Due to space limitations, we are not yet able to resume holding Mass in Genesee. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you come to Mass, please wear a mask! The Bishop's general dispensation is still in effect, and anyone who is over 60 years old, immunocompromised, or who feels uncomfortable attending Mass at this time is NOT obligated to attend. If you do choose to attend, please wear a mask, be mindful of maintaining a distance of six feet from others, and do not shake hands or hug your fellow parishioners. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

St. Vincent de Paul Today as we celebrate Pentecost, Jesus says to his disciples: “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” The Society of St. Vincent de Paul brings the love and care of

Jesus to the poor by paying utility bills, rent, etc. We could not perform our works without your generous assistance. Thank You! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Want to get started with Online Giving? Online Giving makes it possible to support your parish even if you aren’t able to attend Mass. Both one-time and recurring donation options are available. The parish website has an Online Giving button that links to our Online Giving portal. You can

also go straight to the Online Giving portal by visiting https://osvhub.com/stmarysparishmoscow or by scanning the Online Giving QR code on the left-hand page of the bulletin with your smart phone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Be the change that you wish to see in the world. —Gandhi
