Flu season is in full bloom. Try as we might to stay

well, many of us will succumb to the dastardly flu bug.

For the lucky ones who are up and about sessions

resume tomorrow and continue until winter break on

President’s Day.

I encourage you to attend the Ecumenical Prayer Service on

Tuesday at St. Timothy Lutheran just down the road from us. I’ve

never been disappointed. Next year we will host the prayer.

On February 12 all of our Faith Formation participants will prepare

for Lent and receive a “Little Book” to help them at home.

Ash Wednesday begins on St. Valentine’s Day.

On Friday, March 23 our Faith Formation families will once again

provide a Soup and Bread supper at 6:00 pm. Shadow Stations will

follow in the large hall with our Confirmation Candidates taking all

the parts.

God calling…On Sat. Jan 20 the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters will

host a Vocation Discernment for women between 14-35 from 9:30-

11:30 a.m. Please Sister Elena (248-476-4111) to reserve a spot.

The Bottom Line

Sister Deena had just returned home from the evening service when she was startled by a burglar. With great biblical authority

she yelled, ‘Stop! Acts2:38!” which implies ’”Turn from your sin.”

The thief stopped dead in his tracks. Then the woman calmly

called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer

cuffed the man, he asked the burglar, “Why did you stop your

burgling? All the lady did was yell a Bible verse at you. “ Bible

verse?” replied the crook. “She said she had an ax and two .38s!”

In the Parish Center Building.

Please make sure you register for one of our Baptism Classes by contacting our

Parish Office at 734 425 4421.

NON-FOOD PANTRY

New in 2018, we are beginning a new collaboration with St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Garden City by assisting with stocking both their food and non-food pantry. Previously those seeking assistance were required to go to different locations to receive needed food and non-food items. The process will be simplified with our new partnership. Below is a list of suggested items needed for the non-food donations which can be dropped off in the gathering space:

Toilet paper, paper towel, Kleenex, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, all purpose cleaner, laundry soap, small bottle bleach, dryer sheets, garbage bags, hand soap and toothpaste.

HOMELESS BREAKFAST AND DINNER Last week I mentioned a need for a few volunteers for preparing and serving meals to area homeless at the end of the month. This request brought in an overwhelming response, and not only did we find the people to help, but we also created a waiting list with backups. I am

very touched by the response and thank everyone who was interested in helping. For anyone who is not able to be there in person that day, I ask that you pray for us in a special way. Pray for our parishioners and those they will be serving. Pray for all those without food or shelter. In that way we can be united in our service to the poor. Paul Zbytowski

Roe v. Wade, a Deadly Decision

Do you know? On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court of the United States passed Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. These decisions

legalized abortion in the USA for all

nine months of a pregnancy for any

reason. Prior to this decision,

Michigan voters had voted against

legalizing abortion in our state and thus began our fight for the lives of the pre-born. Since abortion has been legalized, 60 million babies have been

killed through abortion- -20% of our

population. Each year we honor the victims of this atrocity by lighting luminaries in the evening of the January 21st and placing them on our front porches and walkways to burn through the night, reminding all living people of the darkness of abortion that has enveloped our country for these 45 years. The Candle Kits are available in the Gathering Space today after all the Masses for a donation. Let’s light

up the night for babies, TONIGHT! More info: LIFESPAN
