Solemnidad de la Transfiguración Este domingo celebramos la Solemnidad de la Transfiguración. Como suce-de con otras solemnidades, cuando cae un domingo sustituye a las lecturas y oraciones dominicales del domingo. El próximo año, por ejemplo, la so-lemnidad del nacimiento de San Juan Bautista sucederá en un domingo. La Transfiguración es algo único porque leemos ese relato del Evangelio en el Segundo Domingo de Cuaresma además del 6 de agosto.

Reflexión sobre la Transfiguración – del Papa Francis En cuanto a la Solemnidad de hoy, el Papa Francisco tuvo esta reflexión: "Desde el acontecimiento de la Transfiguración me gustaría tomar dos ele-mentos significativos que se pueden resumir en dos palabras: ascenso y descenso. Todos necesitamos apartarnos, ascender a la montaña en un espacio de silencio, encontrarnos y percibir mejor la voz del Señor. Esto lo hacemos en oración. Pero no podemos quedarnos allí! El encuentro con Dios en la oración nos inspira de nuevo a "descender la montaña" y regre-sar a la llanura donde nos encontramos con muchos hermanos empujados por la fatiga, la enfermedad, la injusticia, la ignorancia, la pobreza material y espiritual”.

Junta de vecinos y parrillada BBQ He escuchado de parroquianos y vecinos acerca de algunos crímenes angustiosos. Es tan importante que trabajemos juntos -y por supuesto con nuestra policía- para proteger a los demás y a nuestra familia de los críme-nes. Me alegré de ver cuantos fueron al evento de la noche contra el crimen la semana pasada y le pido sus oraciones por el Block Watch (vigilando la cuadra/junta de vecinos) que anfitrioanaremos este miércoles por la noche. Comenzaremos con una barbacoa y perros calientes proporcionados por nuestros Caballeros de colon seguida de presentaciones en inglés y espa-ñol de representantes de la Policía de Monroe.

Una Misa Parroquial y Picnic Hablando de los Caballeros de Colón y la cocina, ellos proveerán hot dogs y hamburguesas para nuestro Picnic Parroquial el 20 de agosto.
