"and whoever welcomes…in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:5

Greeting people is an opportunity to extend warmth and hospitality to

all of our community. A friendly hello or a handshake can make all the

difference in the world to one of our community members new to the

church or those long time members.. and to us as well. All it takes is to

arrive early for Mass once or twice a month. After Mass, stay for a few

minutes to welcome new parishioners, provide an inmation packet and

answer any questions that might arise. Members on the Welcome Com-

mittee want every family to realize that they are very important to our

faith community, and that we look forward to their

participation in the many activities that St. Mary’s

has to offer. If interested in becoming part of this

committee, please email Trish MacDonald, trish-

[email protected] or call the office at 781.925.0680.

In Loving Memory—Mass For The Deceased

Advent is a word with Latin roots. It means "approach" or "coming." But what is Advent, really?

Advent is the beginning of the new liturgical year for the Roman Catholic Church.

On the first Sunday of Advent, which begins on December 3rd this year, the Church celebrates its own

kind of New Year's Day.

Advent begins each year on the Sunday closest to November 30th, which is the feast day of Saint Andrew the Apostle.

Is Advent the Same as Christmas?

Sometimes people mistakenly think that Advent is part of the Christmas celebration. But actually, Advent is a time of preparation all its own.

Christmas doesn't actually begin until the first Mass is celebrated on Christmas Eve, and then we enter the beautiful season of Christmas and Christmastide.

Advent is given to us as a time to prepare

our souls for the coming of the Lord. PART II – Next Week

A warm THANK YOU to Jake’s

for another successful Fish Fry!

The food was delicious and fun

was had by all!

We gratefully received $6231.

On Saturday November 4th students from the Year I Confirmation Program engaged in community service at the Knights of Columbus

building in Hull and at Rose Court at Linden Ponds in Hingham. The students who went to the K of C building cleaned, moved furniture

and painted in an effort to help clean and update the building. The Hull Council of the K of C is renovating their building as they reener-

gize and recommit to the tenets of the order. It was great to see our students enthusiastically work to support the K of C. And their pride

in what was accomplished was most evident in their smiles and good natured ribbing of one another for jobs performed.

The students who went to Rose Court, the residence where many have memory impairments, were energetic in their activities with the

residents. The students spent time talking and building relationships with the elderly and then assisted with activities and some exciting

rounds of BINGO. One of our students, Nolan, even entertained them on the piano. The students were amazed at the joy they could bring

just by being present to the residents. Safe to say, they all felt Jesus’ presence in the day!
