Thank You. To all who donated to help beautify our

church for this Easter Season.

In this extraordinary time of sacrifice and suffering we have meditated on the Passion of Jesus and now celebrate especially the Resurrection and Mercy that flowed from His side on the Cross. Perhaps during Holy Week at home some of you followed the details of His Passion through the Services and devotions online, meditation on the Scriptures, and examination of the Shroud of Turin. Jesus' lungs were filled with blood as He cried out: "My God, my God, why have You abandoned Me?" quoting Psalm 22, which ultimately proclaims faith in the Father. We have been praying for those sharing so closely Christ's Passion and struggle to breath as the Church has poured out plenary indulgences in an unprece-dented way. Each of us has the opportunity to find new life through this Passion. God's goodness and mercy are there for us. Let's humbly and gratefully beg the Lord today that we and every soul will be open to this great mercy and persevere in conversion of heart until we are with our Risen Lord.

In Christ, son of Mary,

Fr. Russell

Stewardship Jesus meets the need of each disciple. To the fearful in the

upper room, He speaks words of peace. To doubting Thomas, He provides the tangible proof of his resurrection. What do I need to become His disciple? What do I have to

share that might meet someone else’s need?

MERCY MOMENTS April 19 – [Divine Mercy Sunday] “I thank you, Lord, with all my heart; in the presence of the angels to You I sing. I bow low toward your holy temple; I praise Your name for Your mercy and faithfulness. For You have exalted over all your name and your promise. On the day I cried out, You answered; You strengthened my spirit. All the kings of earth will praise you, LORD, when they hear the words of Your mouth. They will sing of the ways of the LORD: “How great is the glory of the LORD!” The LORD is on high, but cares for the lowly and knows the proud from afar. Though I walk in the midst of dangers, You guard my life when my enemies rage. You stretch out Your hand; Your right hand saves me. The LORD is with me to the end. LORD, Your mercy endures forever. Never forsake the work of Your hands!” (Psalm 138:1-8)

Pray the Novena to Divine Mercy. Pamphlets and cards with the Novena and Chaplet can be found at the entrances

to the church. The Novena can be prayed individually according to your convenience. It would be particularly appropriate to pray it at the 3:00 Hour of Divine Mercy.

PRAYER FOR THE GRACE TO BE MERCIFUL TO OTHERS O Most Holy Trinity! As many times as I breathe, as many times as my heart beats, as many times as my blood pulsates through my body, so many thousand times do I want to glorify Your Mercy.

I want to be completely transformed into your mercy and to be Your living reflection, O Lord. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbor.

Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances but look for what is beautiful in my neighbors’ soul and come to their rescue.

Help me. O Lord, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbors’ needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moaning.

Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my neighbor, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all.

Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbor and take upon myself the more difficult and toilsome tasks.

Help me, O Lord, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbor, overcoming my own fatigue and weari-ness. My true rest is in the service of my neighbor.

Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbor. I will refuse my heart to no one. I will be sincere even who those who, I know, will abuse my kindness. And I will lock myself in the most merciful Heart of Jesus. I will bear my own suffering in silence. May Your Mercy, O Lord, rest upon me. O my Jesus, transform me into Yourself, for You can do all things. Amen (Diary 163)

Divine Mercy Sunday Question: Where did the feast of Divine Mercy come from? Answer: If you were born well before the year 2000, you know the feast of Divine Mercy has not always been celebrated in the Church. In the early 1900s, a young Polish nun began re-ceiving private revelations. Jesus appeared to her during her times of prayer, speaking a message of mercy and love for the world. She received a set of prayers — the Divine Mercy Chaplet — and the request to have a feast day established to remind the Church of the mercy of God. St. Faustina died in 1938, on the cusp of war and in the midst of one of the most violent centuries in the history of the world. Her story and her diaries began circulating in Poland and beyond. It quick-ly became apparent that this was a holy young women, and the cause for her canonization opened. In the year 2000, she was canonized by the first-ever Polish pope, St. John Paul II. On her canonization day, he established the second Sunday of Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday, “a perennial invitation to the Christian world to face, with confidence in divine benev-olence, the difficulties and trials that mankind with experi-ence in the years to come.”

ABCs OF DIVINE MERCY

A: Ask for His Mercy - God wants us to approach Him in prayer, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy upon us and upon the whole world. B: Be merciful to others - God wants us to receive His mercy and extend mercy (love and forgiveness) to others just as He does to us. C: Complete trust in Jesus - God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust in Him. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive.
