FIRST COMMUNION
Our parish continues to celebrate those children and families who are receiving their First Communion at our daily Masses. Congratulations and God Bless the following children who received Jesus for the first time this past week:
Joelia Wilcox, Stella Louie, Sydney Sterrett, Harold Queen, Kelsey Sullivan, Ava Deianni, Luca Matock, Liliana Villa, and Daniella Zamarripa
CONFIRMATION
Please pray for those young men and women who have begun the new Confirmation prep program. May the Holy Spirit guide them as they learn about the Spirit and celebrate their commitment to our Faith in Christ.
CHRISTIAN HOSPITALITY Day in and day out, we are required to make judgment calls informed by tough, durable, ser-viceable Christian love. We do what we can do, and God takes notice. God is in charge of our rewards, and a glass of water will do when that is what we have to offer with a glad and open heart. Paul gives us a clear theology for the missionary work we do whenever anybody is close at hand. He reminds us that our work, our ministry, is carried on in concert with Christ. We have been baptized into his death and life. In any given moment both life and death are there, a kind of play of shadow and light. Sometimes it’s diffi-cult to tell where shadow leaves off and light begins. God will take care of that, too. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
Dear Friends, Our Responsorial Psalm this weekend, Ps. 89, is a powerful source of prayer in these difficult days: “The promises of the Lord I will sing forever… for you have said ‘My kindness is established for-ever;’ in heaven you have confirmed your faith-fulness.” It’s easy for us to think God has abandoned us these days, but if we stop and pray about it, just the opposite is true. The Lord is ready and willing to come to us in our hearts and lives if we just open ourselves to Him. Throughout Scripture we read over and over again that the Lord will never abandon us, but is with us now and always. The love of our God is greater than anything we can imagine and that love is never diminished. So let us celebrate the goodness of God, who gives us life and hope and promise, and know that “nothing can ever separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Blessings and peace upon all of you! Father Fred
A “Virtual VBS” Report We completed our first week of Virtual VBS. Despite the many challenges which helped us understand the week’s theme Jesus’ Power Helps Us Do Hard Things, everyone had a great time. We used a paper plate to make a symbol of our Bible Buddy, Ramsey, a Bighorn Sheep who travels up steep mountains to stay alive. We learned in our Bible Story that Ananias had to go to make Saul see again after God made Saul blind because he was hurting Christians. Ananias was scared because Saul had a bad reputation for being mean. He went anyway because he trusted Jesus to help him do this hard thing. Saul got to see again and changed his whole life and became a Christian. We played games and sang songs. It was a great week.
