Carlyle K of C Council 1382 meetings—2nd Tuesday of month 7:30pm
Vocation Corner–National Vocation Awareness Week is
November 1-6, 2020. This would be a great time for your family to talk about discerning God’s call in your lives. “Wherever God has put you, that is your vocation. It is not what we do but how much love we put into it.” – St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Respect Life Corner- “You know what sort of people we were among you for your sake.” In the Seconding Reading of 1 Thessalonians, we learn how Paul was able to lead many people to Christ as they were inspired not only by his teaching, but by the way he lived his life when he was among them. They saw how the Gospel truly shaped his life and his view of how others should be treated. Paul could live with such suffering and immense joy at the same time! His prior conversion from Saul, helped the Thessalonians turn away from false gods as well. Changed hearts led for a wider spread of understanding of the Gospel, so much so, that Paul wrote, “we have no need to say anything.” Learn, Act, Connect and Pray- Have you ever had a role model in your life to help you chart your path with God at the helm? Even Saul, turned Paul, could go on to become one of the greatest role models in our faith; giving real advice on how to handle the tough situations we often find ourselves in. Maybe you are the role model someone is waiting for. If Saul can become Paul, who can you become?

SPRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus,
I believe that you are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament, I love you above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now, receive you sacramentally, Come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there,
And unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.
Prayer for Safety of All in Agriculture
Blessed Mary, Mother of God, and great Saint Joseph, you protected and kept safe the Divine Child, Jesus. We ask your special intercession and protection of all who work in Agriculture, especially on the farm. Man, having been cast out of the Garden of Eden, must now work by the sweat of his brow to get food to eat as you foretold in Genesis. And he must also battle fatigue, danger, and accidents. Protect all in agriculture against these and all danger and evil, so that when they complete their work each day and each season, they return to your altar and their families whole and entire to love and honor You and the ones you have given them all the days of their lives. We ask through the holy name of Jesus. Amen.

MATER DEI OPEN HOUSE: NOVEMBER 1
Families with students enrolled in grades 5-8 are invited to attend Mater Dei Catholic High School’s Open House on Sunday, November 1, 2020. This year, due to a limited number of tours, guests must pre-register. Visit the Mater Dei website’s homepage for the online registration (www.materdeiknights.org, “Announcement” section). Families who are unable to attend are invited to contact Director of Enrollment Mrs. Maria Zurliene to request an informational folder ([email protected] or 618-526-7216).
ALL SOULS REMEMBRANCE MASSES
All Saints/All Souls Day celebrations have been connected since the 11th century. However, early Christians remembered and prayed for those who had died since its inception down through the ages. The two feasts complement each other in proclaiming that all who love God, whether living or dead, are united in a living communion with Christ and each other. Therefore, we will remember those who have died October 31st at 4pm, November 1st at 10am, and Nov. 2nd at 7:30am Masses. We invite those who have had a family member or friend die during this past year join us for Mass either in person (please register for weekend Masses) or virtually. If you wish to have a lighted memorial placed near the altar for your loved one, please contact the parish center
at 594-2225 or contact Linda McNurlen at 792-0278.

Hello,
Welcome to Quinn Geralyn Jones (Parents: Zachary and Lindsey) as we baptize her this Saturday at St. Mary. May she grow in wisdom, age and grace with the support (and example) of her family and all of us.
Congratulations to Brandon and Casey (nee Beckman) as they celebrated their wedding this past Friday, October 23rd, @ St. Mary. We pray they be a powerful sign/sacrament of marriage.
Remember, St. Teresa, Marydale, does have an 8am Sunday morning liturgy. However we still need volunteers for greeting, ushering and sanitizing the Church. Each crew would consist of 3 ushers and 2 sanitizers. Clean up takes 10-15 minutes and is pretty simple. Any questions, please call Tiffany.
To view the “on line” Mass @ St. Mary, Carlyle, which will be “live streamed” this Saturday @ 4pm, simply go to the parish web site and look under helpful links. Choose the date you would like to view and hit play. If you wish to watch it “live”, please request us as a friend on Facebook. We will post updates on both sites as new information becomes available. We will continue to “live stream” until further notice. You can also view the Mass every Sunday on Channel 11 @ 8:30am.
I am now in the Reconciliation Room from 3:00 – 3:30pm on Saturdays. Please enter and exit through the East door of Church.
THANK YOU for supporting St. Mary through on-line giving, or mail or dropping off your envelope at the mailbox at the Parish Center or now at Church when attending. Remember to support St. Catarina in Guatemala…we’ll send a check at the end of the month.
30th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Love God...and your neighbor as yourself.” Matt. 22:39ff
Matthew inserts this passage in his Gospel because some in his Jewish/Christian community – only 50 years after Jesus’ death and resurrection – were beginning to put extraneous religious practices at the center of their faith…that sidetracked their love of God and neighbor.
The author of the Exodus passage reminds the community that they are commanded to care for their community’s most helpless: aliens, widows, orphans and the poor. One of the perks students of Scripture can expect from their study is an ability to distinguish what in our faith is essential and what is accidental. — Fr. Roger Karban
How do we live our love of God, neighbor, self? Think about that! Peace & good, Fr. George P.S. Happy 71st Wedding Anniversary to Edna and Erwin Erlinger that they celebrated on Monday, October 19. I will be out of town from Monday through Thursday visiting with Carl and family in Lincoln, NE.
