PROJECT RACHEL & PROJECT JOSPEH

“There is no grief like the grief that does not speak” ~ Henry Longfellow

The grief over an abortion experience is often so deep that it seems to be silent. Women and men may bear this burden for years thinking that there is no hope for forgiveness or peace. It’s not only moms and dads, but also grandparents and siblings who may also feel the pain of this experience. As we begin our observance of Respect Life Month, we offer brochures in church today with information about Project Rachel and Project Joseph, which offer private, professional counseling at no charge for any-one who is suffering because of an abortion experi-ence. Feel free to pick one up in church today, if only to learn about this important ministry which does so much good. You never know when you might have the opportunity to share this information just when someone needs it.

RESPECT LIFE MONTH HOTEL TOILETRIES COLLECTION

A friendly reminder from the parish Pro-Life Com-mittee that “Respect Life” means ALL life and does not refer only to the unborn. The poor, elderly, sick, disabled, and unemployed deserve our respect and support. We will be collecting “hotel toiletries” which will be taken to a local shelter for their overnight guests. Clear out all of those little bottles, bars, and tubes that you brought back from summer travels and de-clutter your cabinets! Travel sized toiletries sold in your neighborhood store of choice are also welcome and appreciated! Collections will take place October 19 & 20. Please place your

items in the designated containers in the main vestibule.

AN ADOPTION LOVE STORY

Read the full version at respectlifeprogram.org/adoption-love-story

Having children and raising a family had always been our expectation. We soon learned, however, that our chances of becoming preg-nant were small. It wasn’t long before we started talk-ing about the possibility of adoption. I wondered if my heart was big enough to love an adopted child as I would have loved a biologi-cal child. But with prayer-ful discernment, we decided to start the process. On Christmas Eve, Bill* and I left the hospital with An-drew. It didn’t take long before there was no doubt in our minds that he was our son, the greatest gift from God! We can’t imagine loving a child whom we con-ceived more than we love Andrew. *Names changed for privacy. “For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power

and love and self control.”

~ 2Timothy 1:7

Many of us compartmentalize our Faith, we bring it out only when we attend Mass or when we at-tend a parish event. Being a good steward requires discipline and striving to put God first in every-thing, all the time. The next time you are at a neighborhood party, at work or out shopping, would your actions signal to others that you are a good and faithful serv-ant of our Lord?

A LITTLE FAITH

Today our readings are about faith, frustration, and how much is enough. Habakkuk is a com-plainer having an argument with God. Timothy is encouraging a community challenged by cow-ardice and the apostles want more faith than they have. Things aren’t happening fast enough for any of them or for us. All of them and we want God to do something sooner rather than later and we want God to give us a reason to believe that it will all work out. What does God do? God puts it back on them—and us—telling Habakkuk to de-scribe the world he wants; telling the apostles to do more than the expected. Doing more with less is a familiar phrase today and a reminder that a little faith may be enough even for the most dif-ficult times. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
