YEAR 6 NEWS

Welcome back to Term Two! This term we welcome Caiden Vales De Menezes, a Student Teacher from the University Notre of Dame.

Our inquiry focus this term will be on sustainability. We will look at Natural disasters and how they have an impact on the environment. We will complete an information report on a Natural Disaster which has occurred around the world. Later in the term, students will also research a particular scientist and create a biography on them.

In Literacy we will do a novel study on the book Holes, written by Louis Sachar. We will also focus on grammar—we will explore the use of commas, speech marks and prepositions.

In Maths, we look at different types of angles. We will use protractors to measure the size of angles and the presence of angles in shapes and everyday items.

This term we are also looking at the AFL in a different way. We have an activity book which includes activities on Maths, Literacy and Art. We have looked at the headlines to see how they attract the reader and draw them into the story. We have looked at statistics and how the teams have performed in comparisons.

This Term we will begin our Student Council. The Council consists of seven Year Six students and two students from Years Four and Five. They will meet twice a term to discuss items students want. The Head Boy and Head Girl will remain on the Council for the year, however the other positions will change each term.

On Friday, Year Six will present Assembly. We will show a variety of different learnings from last term. We look forward to showing you what we know!
