DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE COMMUNITY SERVICES 2015-16 JOSEPHITES SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (JSR) ACTIVITIES The objective of JSR is to identify the needs, problems of the community and extend a helping hand and also to inculcate the “Spirit of Service” among the students and remind them about their “Social Responsibility” towards “Humanity”. Social Consciousness and Commitment are an integral part of Commerce Department’s vision. Students and Faculty are sensitized on their social responsibilities and citizenship roles through participation in JSR Activity on 27 th February 2016 by visiting Home for street children, Rescue Centers, Orphanages, Home for the aged and destitutes, mentally and physically challenged. Our students and faculty voluntarily came forward and generously donated both in cash and in kind amounting to Rs.244085 which included Groceries, medicines ,clothes, soaps, shampoos, biscuits, cakes, snacks, vegetables, fruits, stationery items ,kitchen items, Ceiling Fan, Tube lights, bulbs etc. The inmates excitedly greeted us by shaking hands and our students sang songs, played games, danced and had a great time interacting with them. They were happy to see the student’s efforts and appreciated the college and the staff for encouraging the students to come forward and reach out to the people in need and emerge as ethical and socially responsible citizens of India. It was a great success. The following are the details:

JOSEPHITES SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (JSR) ACTIVITIES

The objective of JSR is to identify the needs, problems of the community and extend a helping

YOUTH RED CROSS WING ACTIVITIES

� Orientation Programme was organized for First year students of all courses on

29th

June 2015.The objective was to inform the fresher’s about the motto of Red

cross society. Red Cross Coordinator informed them about the activities of Youth

Red Cross Wing and seniors also shared their experiences with fresher’s.

� The first meeting of Youth Red Cross Wing was held on 4th

July 2015 and was

conducted by Red Cross Coordinator Mrs.O.S.Suguna Sheela and Committee

member Mr.T Krishna. Jitesh Pandey of III H and Ritesh Benidict of III A were

selected as student representatives for the academic year 2015-16

� Blood screening camp was organized by Youth Red Cross Wing in coordination

with Red cross Blood Bank for first year students of all courses of B.Com

(General, Computers, Honors, Professionals & IT), B.Sc (MPC, MPCs), BA

(Mass Comm., JPE) & BBA on 15th

in main campus and on 29th

July 2015 in

extended campus. The test was conducted to keep a record of blood group of

students and help the needy when required.

� On 17th

July 2015, 3 students Shubam of B.Com IIIA, Amit of B.Com IIC and

David Stone of B.Com I B went to hospital and donated AB+ group blood and

helped a relative of one of our faculty.

� Three policemen of Traffic Control team from Abids police station, Hyderabad

visited college campus with traffic education van on 11th

and 14th

September 2015

and gave training to 36 students on Traffic signals, Do’s and Don’ts of traffic.

� 72 Red cross volunteers along with coordinator Mrs.O.S.Suguna Sheela visited

Aram Ghar, Home for the Disabled, Hyderabad on 8th

December 2015.Students

donated items worth Rs.14000 comprising of clock, medicines, groceries, fruits

etc. It was a heart touching experience for the students.

� 46 Redcross volunteers along with coordinator Mrs.Suguna Sheela and committee

member Mr.T.Krishna visited Blood Bank at vidya nagar, Hyderbad on 12th

January 2016.Students learnt about how the donated blood is grouped, preserved

and purified. Students were also informed about the various activities of the

Blood bank

� Blood Donation Camp was organized by Red Cross blood bank, Hyderabad on

18th

January 2016 in main campus and on 20th

January 2016 in extended campus.

The camp was inaugurated by Vice Principal, Rev. Fr. Richard and Dr.Savitha of

Redcross blood bank along by Red cross coordinator Mrs.O.S.Suguna Sheela and

faculty Mrs.Anitha. The camp was a huge success and 96 students have donated

blood.
