WORKSHOPS ON PRAYER- We will host a Christian meditation workshop series on Wednesdays June 6 and 20 and

on Thursday July 5 from 7:00-8:00 P.M. in our parish center. It will be given by one of our parishioners, Peggy Mearns, who is a certified spiritual director and has a Master’s degree in Applied Spirituality from the Jesuit University of San Francisco. We will reflect on prayer in the

Gospel of St. Luke followed by a short group experience of silent meditation to draw us closer to Jesus the Healer. All are invited.

SECULAR FRANCISCAN PROFESSION- Two of our fellow parishioners, Elaine Addeo and Joan Devere, will be professed into our local fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order at the 9:00 A.M. Mass on Saturday, June 2. They will be making a lifetime commitment to live a Gospel life according to the Rule of St. Francis for the Third Order. Secular Franciscans are lay men and women who form a worldwide fraternity of brothers and sisters who serve the Church and their local community through prayer and good works. If you would like information about joining our St. Joseph’s fraternity of Secular Franciscans, please contact Lauren Ingrassia at 845-419-5254. BROTHER JOHN KOELLE- We are blessed to have our Capuchin brother John Koelle joining us again this year for our summer assignment. Br. John is now a deacon and he will be with us from May 21 through early August. Here is a message from him: We meet again! Dear friends of St. Joseph, I'm extremely happy that I'll be returning to your beautiful and faith filled community this summer. Some of you may remember me a few years ago on a summer assignment as a First Year Theologian. This summer I return, with the help of your prayers, as a transitional deacon preparing for the priesthood. My friends, I'm at your service and look forward to greet you with a smile, offer a kind word or to pray with you for a special intention. May God continue to bless you all with his peace. Your brother, Br. John Koelle, O.F.M., Cap. HELPING BR. JOHN GET AROUND- Br. John Koelle will begin his summer assignment here at St. Joseph’s in late May. He does not drive so he will need some help getting around while he’s here in New Paltz. He will walk where he can and he will rely very much on public transportation, and the friars and Sr. Philomena will drive him as much as they can. But if you would also like to be available to drive Br. John occasionally, please let Fr. Salvatore know and he’ll give Br. John your phone number. Thank you! FLEA MARKET- St. Peter’s Church in Rosendale (1017 Keator Ave.) will hold their annual Spring Flea Market with Plant and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 27. It will be held in the school hall and will run from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Vintage and new items will be featured. For more information, please call 845-687-9057. NEW YORK MARCH FOR LIFE- There will be a pro-life rally in Albany on Monday, June 4. ADVERTISE IN OUR BULLETIN!- Mike McAleer from Liturgical Publications will be in our office the week of June 3 to secure new ads for the advertisement section of our bulletin. If you are a business owner, a professional, or self-employed, please consider purchasing an ad. It can help your business attract new customers and it will also help our parish. Advertisements can also be purchased for a family, a charity, in memory of a loved one or to support a community organization. For more information, please contact Mike at 412-855-8013 or [email protected] LEGO® SUMMER CAMPS AT ST. JOSEPH- This summer, St. Joseph Church will be host to Snapology Summer Camps. Snapology provides a fun and safe environment for children to learn math, science, technology, engineering, and literacy concepts using Lego® bricks and other similar building tools. Our programs include: Lego® Robotics, Lego® Animation Studio, and STEM classes where campers learn how to build small machines and mechanisms. We also offer super-fun theme camps like Lego® Star Wars, Ninja Training Camp, and Minecraft. Our programs are for children ages 5 to 12 and run in July and August. Snapology is committed to education (and fun!) and we understand the importance of keeping our programs affordable. We are pleased to provide two need-based scholarships to students who wish to attend our camps who can’t otherwise afford to. With Snapology's Summer Camps the world of STEM is brought to life, and your children can learn, create, and innovate while having a blast! Call Lela Basile at (845) 255-1318 or visit us at midhudson.snapology.com SMART SHOPPER CARDS- Did you know that you can

contribute to your parish community just by buying your groceries? Through St. Joseph’s parish, you can purchase cards from ShopRite, Top’s and Hannaford’s that can be used towards purchases at those stores.

The best part is that for every $100 you spend using these cards, St. Joseph’s Parish receives $5.00 which goes toward maintaining the parish and the many activities we sponsor. The cards are available in $20, $50, and $100 amounts and can be purchased using cash, check, or credit card. Please stop by the parish center during business hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00-4:00) to purchase these cards. And don’t forget they make great gifts as well.

PILGRIMAGE TO IRELAND- There will be a Catholic Pilgrimage to Ireland this Fall and if you are interested in a spiritual journey through this beautiful country, this is your chance. The tour group will spend 10 days (9 nights) visiting many sacred sites including Our Lady of Knock Shrine, Trinity College Dublin & Book of Kells. Fr. Michael Ramos will serve as the chaplain on the trip. The dates of the pilgrimage will be October 1-10 and a $200 refundable deposit is required. Deadline for registration for the trip is June 1. Please contact Kathe Krause for more information at 845-489-8918 or [email protected] RELIGIOUS ARTICLE AND BOOK STORE- At. St.

Augustine Church (55 Main St. in Highland) there is a store that sells religious articles and books. The store is open On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-3:00 P.M.; on Saturday from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.; and Sunday after the morning Masses.

For more information, please call 845-691-7673 LOW GLUTEN ALTAR BREADS: are available at our church. Parishioners who are gluten intolerant should see the priest before Mass so that a low-gluten host can be placed on the altar for consecration. At Communion time, please come forward with the

Eucharistic Ministers and receive the Body and Blood of Christ with them. Totally gluten-free hosts are not available, so for those gluten-intolerant persons who cannot receive even the low-gluten host, they can of course still receive the Precious Blood from the chalice. Catholics

believe that whether Holy Communion is received under the form of bread or under the form of wine, the whole Christ is being received. Please see one of the friars if you have any questions concerning this.

Pentecost Sunday

SAINT JOSEPH’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM It is time for re-registration for Religious Education for

the 2018-2019.

The month of May would be an excellent time to choose and register what class you want to secure your choice. For your convenience we have online re-registration. ____________________________________________________ We, the Benedictine Sisters of St. Walburga’s Monastery in Eliz-abeth , NJ, wish to express our gratitude to all those who made our 150th Ulster County Celebration on May 12, 2018 such a wonderful celebration! Fr. Salvatore and the Capuchin Friars, Fr. Yaya from Benedictine Hospital/Health Alliance, Fr. John from St. Peter’s Rosendale, Knights of Columbus and the Columbiettes, those who prepared food, the music ministry, altar servers, the parishioners of St. Joseph Church, friends of the Benedictine Hospital/Health Alli-ance, the staff of St. Joseph Church, and all those who were with us in Spirit and who have touched out lives through the year. We offer our daily prayers for you with grateful hearts. It is truly our privilege to be in Ulster County in the ministries of Health care and education.

“The Church needs passionate missionaries, consumed by zeal to bring the consoling Word of Jesus and his grace to every-one. This is the fire of the Holy Spirit, if the Church does not receive this fire, or allow it to enter, it becomes a cold or luke-warm Church, incapable of giving life, since it is made of cold or lukewarm Christians." Pope Francis

many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.”
