MEETINGS AND ACTIVITIES FOR THIS WEEK

All public Masses (including Sunday, Holy Day, and weekday Masses) are suspended immediately until further notice.

Priests should celebrate private Masses daily for their parishioners and the intentions of their parish as well as for the relief and assistance to all affected in any way by COVID-19. Private Masses should not be offered at usual Parish Mass times. If at all possible, they should be celebrated in the Rectory Chapel. Priests are strongly encouraged to post written or recorded daily homilies on the parish websites.

Bishop Burbidge will make available his private celebration of the Sunday Mass. Any parishes who are able to livestream or post recorded private Masses are strongly recommended to do so.

All Confirmation liturgies are suspended until further notice.

All weddings and funerals should continue only if absolutely necessary, with the attendance limited to immediate family members.

Churches may remain open for individual private prayer, especially prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. However, no gatherings for devotions (such as Stations of the Cross) are permitted. If tabernacles are not already located in the main body of the church. No more than 10 persons should be present in the Church, according to the recommendation of the White House.

Individual reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation may be made available but not in large gatherings. No more than 10 persons should be present in the Church, according to the recommendation of the White House.

The number allowed in the Church is never to exceed the White House recommended 10 persons. A porter (where possible) could be assigned by the Pastor throughout the day to ensure the number is not exceeded (such individuals should not be “at risk” according to the CDC). The interior of the Church building and pews should be cleaned and disinfected frequently.

An Act of Spiritual

Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace Youas if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.Amen.

Pastor’s Corner

Confessions: The schedule for confessions is still Wednesday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 3:00 pm, and Sunday at 11:00 am. Please be brief and exit the church to give others a chance to enter. Masses: The online schedule for masses also remains the same. Daily masses to be uploaded about 10:00 am, and Sunday mass about 10:30 am. We pray for a return to a regular schedule and for a congregation. Consecration of the parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to St. Joseph: Many thanks for all those who made the consecration of our parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to St. Joseph a great success. Karen Gardner came up with the idea, which was immediately supported by Nancy Zevgolis. Fr. Rivera, Deacon Don, Deacon J.D., Deacon Ken, and seminarians Ethan and Jordan all contributed to a beautiful ceremony. God blessed us with a beautiful day enabling us to process throughout the property blessing the four corners with Our Lord in the Monstrance. Roof and drainage repair: The church roof has been in need of repair since the new additions were added. A proposal has been accepted and signed. Work should commence soon on replacement. Part of the cost would be borne by the diocese; part of the cost will come from our funds. Additionally, the upper parking lot requires a drainage pipe installation at the corner adjacent to the pre-school. The lot slopes in the direction of that corner and the absence of a drain has caused erosion on the slope leading toward the school building. The material for the job has been sitting in the parking lot waiting for three consecutive days free from rain. That hasn’t happened in weeks. As I write this, next week’s forecast is rain free. Obviously both projects will cost the parish money. Estimates are about $70k for our share of the roof replacement, and about $35k for the drain installation. The timing could not be worse given the virus and subsequent drop in parish collections. Please continue to be generous as these projects must proceed. Meals for the rectory: On behalf of Fr. Rivera and the seminarians, thank you for all those who have provided meals for us on Saturdays and Sundays. The sign-up for these meals filled quickly well into the summer. How generous and kind of all of you. The initiative for this was taken by the home school moms under the direction of Deacon Don. So many in the parish embraced the idea and have provided us very nice home cooked meals every weekend. God bless all of you. On the subject of generosity: This parish continues to be so very giving to the collection, the building fund, the St. Vincent DePaul society (poor box), the priests and the seminarians. Keep up the good work, and know it is noticed and appreciated. Not merely by myself and others in the parish, but by Our Lord and God who sees all.

Oremus pro invicem,

Fr. Charles Smith

“Prayer and fasting are good, but better than either is almsgiving

accompanied by righteousness…It is better to give alms than to store up gold; for almsgiving saves one from death and

expiates every sin. Those who regularly give alms shall enjoy a full life.”Tob. 12:8-9

Almsgiving is active prayer. Almsgiving is fasting as

it calls for sacrificial giving.

We thank everyone who contributes to our purse – your charitable hearts permit us to extend helping

hands to those who need help. The alms we provide might ease the hunger of a family or keep someone warm and sheltered; they are always a

sign of our love for our neighbor and of our trust in our Creator.

We Wish You a Happy and Holy Easter!

Regular K of C events and activities are canceled until further notice per guidelines distributed by the Supreme Council: kofc.org/en/news-room/announcement/coronavirus.html Please pray for one another! A Prayer for Protection in Time of Pandemic O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith. O loving Mother, you know what we need, and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died. Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure. Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows, so as to

lead us, through the Cross, to the glory of the Resurrection. Amen. Under thy protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God. In our needs, despise not our petitions, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.(Adapted from the prayer of Pope Francis) INTO THE BREACH: A Call to Battle for Catholic Men Inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation for Catholic men written by Bishop Olmsted of Phoenix, the Knights of Columbus produced a video series which seeks to answer the question of what it means to be a man and how to live as a man in today's world.
