THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING (Gill Austin)A reading from the book of Jeremiah (31:3; 29:11-14)I have loved you with an everlasting love and so I shall maintain my faithful love for you. Yes, I know what plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. When you call to me and come and pray to me, I shall listen to you. When you search for me, you will find me: when you search whole heartedly for me, I shall let you find me.

The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM – The Lord Is Kind And Merciful (T. Booth, OCP)

Performed by Danna De Sagun

The Lord is kind and merciful. The Lord is slow to anger and rich in compassion. The Lord is kind and merciful.

1. Hear, O Lord, the sound of my call; be gracious and answer me. For you, O Lord, my heart is longing. With all my heart your face I seek.

Bless the Lord, O my soul;bless his holy name.Bless the Lord, O my soul, forgetting not his benefits, forgetting not his benefits.

As the heavens are above the earth, great is God’s kindness. As the east is far from the west, he has put our sin from us, he has put our sin from us.

SECOND READING (Rachel Lloyd)

A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians (12: 4 – 7, 13)

Brothers and sisters:There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they all come from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things.Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do.The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. The body of Christ has many different parts, just as any other body does. But God's Spirit baptised each of us and made us part of the body of Christ.

The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION – Hallelujah (Cohen, Columbia)

Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelu

Spoken: Come and listen, and I will tell what great things God has done for me.

2. Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, Hallelujah

GOSPEL : Father: The Lord be with you. All: And with your spirit.Father: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John (15: 9 – 17)All: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to his disciples:“As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. “I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.“You are my friends if you do what I command you.I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.“You did not choose me but I chose you.And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.”The Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER (Marshall, Catholic Community of North Harbour)

Prayer over the GiftsPray, brethren (brothers and sisters),that my sacrifice and yoursmay be acceptable to God,the almighty Father.May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your handsfor the praise and glory of his name, for our goodand the good of all his holy Church.May this oblation, our tribute of homage, rise up to you, O Lord, and, through the intercession of the most Blessed Virgin Mary, whom you assumed into heaven, may our hearts, aflame with the fire of love, constantly long for you.Through Christ our Lord.Amen.

PrefaceThe Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord.Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right and just.It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks,Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,through Christ our Lord. For today the Virgin Mother of Godwas assumed into heavenas the beginning and imageof your Church’s coming to perfectionand a sign of sure hope and comfort to your pilgrim people;rightly you would not allow herto see the corruption of the tombsince from her own body she marvellously brought forthyour incarnate Son, the Author of all life. And so, in company with the choirs of Angels,we praise you, and with joy we proclaim:

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,so that they may become for usthe Body and + Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayedand entered willingly into his Passion,he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,and gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,FOR THIS IS MY BODY,WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chaliceand, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANTWHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY

FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.The mystery of faith.

We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your ResurrectionUntil you come again. Until you come again.

Therefore, as we celebratethe memorial of his Death and Resurrection,we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthyto be in your presence and minister to you.Humbly we praythat, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with N. our Pope and N. our Bishopand all the clergy.______________Remember also our brothers and sisterswho have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy:welcome them into the light of your face.Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,with blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify youthrough your Son, Jesus Christ.Through him, and with him, and in him,O God, almighty Father,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever.

Moving On, Reaching Out By M. Mangan (Litmus)(Children walk out with their parents during the verses with their parents)

The time has come to say good-byeHow the years have slipped awayIt seems like only yesterdayThat we started on our journey in this placeSharing laughter, love and tearsIn good times and in badWe just can’t help but feel a little sad We’re moving on, reaching outWe’re gonna fly up to the starsThe time has come to make a bold new startWe’re moving on, reaching outSetting sail for new horizons. But wherever we go, we’ll always holdThese memories deep in our hearts.

We thank our God for such great giftsAll the treasures in our heartsWe’ve heard Good News of Jesus Christ To lead us on the way and light the pathWe’ve been guided to this momentTogether you and me.We thank all you who helped us on our journey

As the seasons roll byAnd we’re scaling new heightsYou know that we’ll treasure these timesAs we’re soaring new skiesWe’ll know deep insideThis is where we learned how to fly.

Good Luck!
