Baptisms Unfortunately, it is still too early to return to baptising our babies and children, as it is impossible to maintain physical distancing; Baptism is a very tactile Sacrament. We will baptise them as soon as we can!

Please pray for those who have died, including George Ashley David and for those whose anniversaries are at this time: Damion Fortune, Mary Cheun, Douglas Tied, Margaret Gough, Ralph de Souza, Michael Hehir, Elza Willcoxson, Joan Bunce, Robert Sullivan, Hazel Woodhams and Mary Elliott. also for those unwell: Margaret Edwards, David Coates, Toni Kowal, Theodora-Angelica Acha, Joanne Walker, Celine McGill, Anne Brownsell, Patrick Sullivan, Jane Pollon, Alan Griffiths, Eileen Delaney, John Stradling, Douglas Johnston, Paddy Doherty, Anna Toft, Baby Ellodie, John (Pop) Sogeler, Alan Watson, Victoria Parsons and Derek Harris.

MASS INTENTIONS PARISH NEWS Resuming the celebration of public Masses at

St. John the Baptist Church (in accordance with our Archbishop’s instructions)

Maximum safe capacity is only THIRTY or more if a family is sitting together; YOU WILL ONLY BE ADMITTED TO MASS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED AND HAD THIS CONFIRMED. Please help others you know with this. No prior registration necessary for weekday Masses -but please sign in on arrival at church. Always sanitise your hands on entry and observe 2 metre distancing in church. To ease the pressure on Sundays, please consider attending Mass on a weekday if you can, as there is still NO SUNDAY OBLIGATION TO ATTEND MASS. Use of WCs will not be possible. There will be no music or congregational singing. Readers are asked to volunteer at whichever Mass they attend (let the Priest know before Mass) and if possible bring their own missal MUST WEAR SINGLE-USE GLOVES PROVIDED There will be NO PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL There will be just a few words in place of the HOMILY. Our Sunday homily will be available on our website. Congregation should not exchange the Sign of Peace You will be able to make an offering to the parish in a basket as you leave church (NO COLLECTION). We cannot bank coins at the moment! After the words “Lord I am not worthy…” the Priest will hold up the Host to the Congregation and say audibly “The Body of Christ” and hold up the chalice and say “The Blood of Christ”, to which the congregation respond in each case “Amen.” The Priest, having received Holy Communion, will recite the Prayer after Communion and give the Blessing and dismissal. Communion will only be under one kind (Host) IN THE HAND and should be given and received silently. People should approach the Priest with arms at full stretch to preserve the safe distance. They should then immediately leave the church, sanitizing their hands. It is appreciated that some people will still be anxious or vulnerable and will not be able to return yet to Mass There will, for the time being, be NO MASS at the JOHN FISHER SCHOOL CHAPEL.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please see the Newsletter for 29th March and the note on perfect contrition and forgiveness when sacramental Confession is not easily available - as now. In need, individual Confessions can be heard by appointment.
