Gospel Meditation Our humanity bleeds through today’s gospel
passages in more ways than one. We see both elation and
fall, hope in the midst of the darker sides of our natures. If
we allow it, these gospels hold a mirror to our own fickle
hearts. The crowds cry “Hosanna,” and the Apostles
allegiance unto death. In a manner of days—even hours—
Jesus is betrayed, abandoned, denied, condemned, tortured,
and executed. As God, He could have stopped this horrific
narrative from
unfolding, but He
doesn’t. He
allows free will to
play itself out.
There are nearly
two millennia
between this
spectacle and us.
We can stand
safely removed,
if we choose. But Lent invites us to return to this story.
Lent invites us to find ourselves in the people we encounter
there. Are we the repentant woman at Bethany? Are we
naysayers of such lavish piety? Have we acted in a way
that betrays those we love or denies what we know to be
good and true? Have we fallen asleep in our faith? Have
we unfairly accused others of a crime or immorality we
imagine, though perhaps they didn’t commit? Do we help
others carry their burdens? Do
we stand in solidarity with those
who suffer? Do we care for the
dying?
This week, take up today’s
gospel again. Look carefully at
the Passion narrative and sit with it
in silence. Find yourself in the
story and ponder its meaning for
your own life. Journey with Jesus
to the foot of the Cross so that you
too may say, along with the faith-
ful centurion, “truly this man was
the Son of God!”

Thank You! Thank you all the wonderful
volunteers who helped make our fish
fry dinners a success! They include
our many chefs, servers, greeters, and
student volunteers. Without their
dedication to this community
building event, we could not make it
happen. They are wonderful! Their
joy and smiles welcomed our dinner guests each
week. Most Fridays we served between 300-400
individuals.
Thank you for your efforts to be
considerate in your parking along the
streets around the parish not to block
people’s driveways. Please keep this in
mind again as we enter the very busy

Children of Mary Sodality Sodalities are groups of lay people
who devote themselves to Mary the Mother
of God. How do we do this? By adhering to
the devotion of attending First Saturday
Mass, praying the rosary together, and offering works of
Mercy to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred
Heart of Jesus.
An initiative we’ve undertaken is devoting
ourselves to prayer and service to some of our parish family
members who are in need. Our girls adopted a particular
person and spent time in prayer particularly for them and
have devoted small acts of mercy towards them. We sent
our first care package to our new friends for Valentine’s
Day. The girls learned to crochet. They made scarves,
baked goodies, and wrote Valentines in February.
In March we learned
about our Lenten practice
of Stations of the Cross
and plan on making a trip
to The Cabrini Shrine to
walk their outside stations
in the near future.
All girls of the parish, ages 7-18, are welcome to
our next meeting on April 7th when we will attend the First
Saturday Mass at 8:30 a.m. with meeting to follow in
Martin Hall. Come and become actively involved in your
faith. Devote yourself further to the Mother of Our Lord,
learn a little, laugh a little, and make friends for life!
Play the Piano for Our Parish! “Your light must shine before
others, that they may see your
good deeds and glorify your
heavenly Father.”
Are you hiding your light under
a bushel? Our parish is looking
for a piano accompanist. Did
God bless you with the gift of music? Are you using it the
best way you know how? Did your eyes see these words?
Please let them plant a seed in your heart that will grow until
the Spirit allows you to speak up—even if what you feel is
apprehension. Like Mary, you will say, YES! Please e-mail
Maggie Howard at [email protected] to let her
know you would like to brighten our parish with your light.
Choosing the best preschool for your child does not have to
be an overwhelming task. Successful parents go into the
process aware, informed and ready to ask questions! Please
e-mail our Preschool Director, Mrs. Karen Gorman, with
any questions or concerns—[email protected].
During the month of March we will have an Open House every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
7th Grade Information Night Holy Family High School Holy Family High School will hold its annual
7th Grade Information Night on Wednesday,
April 25th at 6:00 p.m. in our school theater. This is a great
time to learn about our Catholic Faith curriculum, College
Preparatory academics, excellent athletics, and many
extra-curricular offerings. Members of the administration
as well as current students and parents will be available to
answer questions. To register, please visit our website
at www.holyfamilyhs.com and click on Inquire Now.
Please call the Admissions Office at 303-410-1411 if you
