This year, for the first time, we are doing it online. Although some schools experienced connectivity problems, we were fortunate enough to get through the testing without any issues. Confirmation Meeting Thanks to Fr Vinh, Sr Tuyen, Mrs Phillips, Mr Baker and Mr Maxwell for their efforts on delivering a very successful Confirmation candidates and parent information and reflection evening last week. WA Day A reminder that Monday 3 June is a public holiday celebrating WA Day. The following day is a Professional Development day for staff who will be receiving further training in a writing program currently being used in the school. Children will start school that week on Wednesday 5 June. God Bless! Mr Chris Lamb, Principal

MAY – The Month of Mary

I see in you, my Mother, the guide of my life. You fulfilled your destiny perfectly. Help me to see what I am called to do, What my place in the world is to be, How I am to spend my life. Teach me, Mary, to go to Christ and find what my work for him is to be.

Dear Parents It was a wonderful experience to have the opportunity to walk part of the Camino! I would like to thank Mr Maxwell for his great work in my absence and all staff who ‘stepped up’ to take on extra responsibilities asked of them while I was away. 2020 Kindy Enrolment Interviews I have started interviews for enrolment into the 2020 Kindergarten classes. CENTRED ON JESUS CHRIST

CONFIRMATION

We had a wonderful turnout for Confirmation information evening for the families and 22 candidates who are preparing to be Confirmed later in the term. One special part of evenings like this is seeing parents and children

talk with each other about their faith and the gifts of the Holy Spirit they see at work in each other. It is a very special and significant time for all our Confirmation Candidates in our parish, including many of our Year 6 students. As Catholics, we believe that the new life in Christ received at Baptism is strengthened by the Holy Spirit when we are Confirmed. Confirmation also empowers us to witness to Jesus Christ through our words and actions. We are encouraging our Year 6s to come along to the 8am morning Mass held each weekday, in Father Vinh’s Parish room, just before school as part of their preparation for Confirmation. PLEASE SEE THE OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION RELATED TO CONFIRMATION BELOW:

LIFELINK

Miss Schofield, Mr Bigwood, Mrs Gibbs and the Year 4 children have been preparing a special prayer for our Life Link Mission Day this Friday, May 17 at 8.30am. The work of these agencies includes support for the deaf or hearing impaired, training in the English language for those for whom English is

a second language, counselling and mediation, care for children and adults living with disabilities, mental health support and more. Each year, our school, with all Catholic schools across the state, makes the effort to reflect on and contribute to the wonderful work that these agencies do.

On Friday, 17th May the Year 4s will be presenting their prayer assembly for

Lifelink.

Lifelink provides a wonderful opportunity for students attending Catholic

schools within the Archdiocese of Perth to join together to show their

collective support for the many Church social service agencies. These agencies

reach out to provide practical care and direct assistance to thousands of people

in need within the community each year.

To raise funds this year, we invite you to create a funky and fun hairstyle to

support our cause. We are looking for bright colours, outrageous trends and

hairdos that inspire others.

Important: Colours must be able to be washed out after the day.

Please bring in a gold coin donation to participate on Friday, June 7.

We look forward to seeing your inventions!

From the Year 4s!

Mother’s Day Prayer Assembly

Our pre-primary students did a wonderful job reminding us of the unique gift that mothers are to us. We enjoyed the ‘What makes my Mum special?’ interviews and the beautiful retell of the Mum story, ‘Love You Forever’ by Roger Knapp – it’s such a heart-warming story! A big thanks to the wonderful work behind the scenes from our pre-primary staff team who with the Kindy classes also had a busy week preparing special morning and afternoon gatherings for our Mums. THIS WEEK’S QUESTION Congratulations to one of our staff members who was quicker than all the students to answer last newsletter’s question. If you can correctly identify the staff member, who is also helping to organise our Life Link Day, you will be in the running to win a special little prize. Let Mr Maxwell know if you can answer. Mr Tim Maxwell (Assistant Principal)

KINDY 2020 Kindy enrolments planning and interviewing for 2020 has commenced. If you have a sibling or know of someone wishing to enrol into the school, please call into the office to collect an enrolment pack. The application form and all documents are to be returned to the school office as soon as possible.
