Why do your professional drivers need to attend training?

Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence), an EU directive, requires all PCV and LGV drivers to attend 35 hours of periodic training every five years. All training must be completed by 2013 (PCV) and 2014 (LGV).

All training must be approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT), with qualification details uploaded onto the DSA database within five working days of course completion.

Driver CPC will be enforced by the police, VOSA and DVLA. Drivers unable to provide proof of their Driver CPC qualification will be issued with on-the-spot fines of up to £200 and will be open to investigation.

Straightforward, and with no hidden charges

We will complete all the necessary administration processes, including uploading qualification details onto the DSA database within the required five days, at no additional cost.

Experience and expertiseSt John Ambulance teaches first aid to more people than any other organisation in the UK - including over 200,000 local and national businesses.

Meeting your individual requirementsYou can book places for drivers on regularly scheduled courses at our venues or, if you have a group to train*, we can deliver bespoke training on your premises. We will also work alongside your in-house trainers to help achieve Driver CPC compliance in your company, adding first aid to your existing training framework.

Our Professional drivers first aid course meets the JAUPT syllabus requirements, helping your business comply with Driver CPC regulations. However, we have designed this course with much more in mind than just helping you tick a box.

An accident on the road could result in a significant cost to your business. But the cost goes beyond the financial. Government statistics show that road accidents accounted for 2,222 deaths in the UK in 2009, with 25% of road fatalities occurring in incidents involving LGVs and PCV. With effective first aid, many of these lives may have been saved.

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. With first aid training, your drivers can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

Why should your drivers train in first aid?

* The usual minimum is six people but we may be able to train smaller groups on enquiry. The larger the group, the more cost effective on-site training is likely to be. Our maximum for most courses is 12 people for each trainer provided.
