Short Week Ahead
Reminder that staff will be attending Professional Development next week on Thursday and Friday. There will be no school for the students. The office hours on Thursday and Friday of next week will be as follows: 8:30am-2:00pm.
Dress for the weather!
The weather outside is getting cooler and many students are com-ing to school ill prepared. Please make sure your child has a warm coat with them each day as the weather can change very quickly. Even days that start our warm can turn cool by recess.
Field Trip Driver’s Information
This is just a reminder to come in to the office to update the liabil-ity amount on your insurance to $3,000,000 if you have not already done so.
When you are doing your driver’s abstract request on line, choose the 6 year default choice for how far back to go for your driver’s abstract record.
Pumpkin Alley
Help decorate our second annual Pumpkin Alley. Students are invited to bring one carved jack o’ lantern to school on Monday, October 29th, and Tuesday, October 30st to have on display in our school foyer on October 31st. All entries will be entered into a special draw. Students will bring home their pumpkins at the end of the school day on Wednesday, October 31st .

Once again Big White is offering an after school program to our families here at St. Joseph. This is not a school sanctioned event, it is a family choice. We do not send supervisors from the school. Art Club Coming to St. Joe’s
We are excited to be offering something new! This Tuesday, at 12:50, any students from grades 4-7 are welcome to attend a meeting to learn more about our Art Club. We have an amazing team of artistic excellence ready to go! Thank you to Mrs. Frigon and Mrs. Braun for starting up this exciting new club. We hope to see many of our stu-dents come and find out what it is all about!

Caring for your uniforms, tricks and tips!
Please refer to washing directions found on fabric tags of every garment to best care for your uniforms.
Sweaters
A common misconception is to hang or flat dry the sweaters. Believe it or not, this actually compromises the yarn leaving the sweater more susceptible to damage. The trick to a long lasting and shapely sweater is to put it in the dryer at a low to medi-um heat. No zippers, towels or abrasive items with it.
Tartan items
The beauty of tartan is that it does not require daily washing. When you do wash tartan please use a liquid soap, cold water wash without anything abrasive and without towels then hang to dry. Do not place tartan items into a dryer. Ideally send the kilt or skirt to the dry cleaners periodically so that the pleats can be heat pressed to keep the garment looking smart.
White garments
We appreciate and understand that children and white, sometimes do not mix well. Please do not use of bleach on any of our garments, this damages the fibers and may cause the fabric to tear around embroidered logos.
One for wash, One for wear
If you have visited our store, you have likely heard this phrase before. A school uniform is worn up to 180 days in the school year. That is a lot of wear on an article of clothing. We encourage having 2 or 3 of each daily-wear items such as pants, shirts, and sweaters to rotate throughout the week. Not only will this help the longevity of each garment, it also means less time for you doing laundry.

Shoe polish: Easy to apply and perfect for those morning when shoes need a quick polished appearance before a
presentation or school photos.
Sweater stone: Helps keep the uniform garments such as sweaters and tartans fresh. Removes fibers and other parti-
cles that may appear as the garment is worn over and over.

Family Nights at St. Charles Garnier Parish
Family nights are a wonderful opportunity for families with school-aged children to come together around shared meal and some time for song, prayer, stories and teaching in the church. The evening concludes with a family activity and some ideas to bring home. Please take a moment to register at the parish office ([email protected]) by providing your contact information so the parish can let you know what is happening. Family nights will run every second Wednesday at 5:30pm until 7:15pm.
