Rules and Regulations

1. Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current Federation Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith.

2. All riders must be in proper riding attire and wear approved protective headgear. 3. Trophy and eight ribbons awarded in every class, unless otherwise noted. 4. Prize money will be paid by check or deducted from entry fees and will be presented to exhibitor at the

Secretary’s stand. Thereafter, the Show’s responsibility terminates. The Horse Show will not stop payment or duplicate awards for lost checks.

5. An office fee of $25.00 will be assessed to every entry. 6. An entry may be scratched by written notice with the show secretary and a $35.00 processing fee will be

assessed. Once the show has started, horses that are not shown in classes that they have entered, will forfeit their entry fees.

7. Jumping orders, if necessary, will be established randomly and will be posted at the gate prior to each division.

8. The management reserves the right to cancel, combine or split any class if entries warrant or the rules of USEF require it. Management reserves the right to add or change judges and stewards.

9. No dogs or other pets allowed on grounds unless leashed and under control. 10. A fine of $50 plus collection fees will be assessed for all non-negotiable checks. Foreign competitors are

required to pay in US funds to avoid discount charges. 11. Entries close the Thursday before the show at 8:00 pm. Entries are $30.00 per class unless otherwise noted.

Post entry fee $10.00 per class. Warm Ups are $20.00 per trip or session. 12. All exhibitors in the Pony & Junior Hunter Sections must present their measurement cards at the Show office

before number may be picked up. To speed the processing, you may send a photocopy of your card with your entry blank.

13. Show Championships – Will be awarded on the basis of USEF rules in all Hunter and Jumper Classes. Equitation championships will be awarded on points:7,5,4,3,2,1. In the case of equal points, the rider with the most points over fences will be declared the Champion. In the event there is still a tie, the rider with the most points in the first class over fences will be declared the Champion.

14. Zone II Specifications for Children’s & Adult Amateur Hunters. 15. Sharps container located in the secretary’s stand. 16. Exhibitors showing as Amateur riders must present their Amateur cards to the show secretary prior to

receiving their number. 17. Starting on December 1, 2008, in order to compete at a USEF licensed hunter, jumper, or hunter/jumper competition, each horse must be registered with the USHJA for a one-time fee of $30.00; see USEF rule book under EQ100, HU100 and JP100.) 18. All hunter classes to be judged on Performance & Soundness 100%. 19. The showgrounds have permanent stalls with doors.

Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the preliminary level or above and Combined Driving competitions at the advanced level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular competitions, Eventing competitions, Dressage competitions, Reining competitions and Combined Driving competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program; 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7)NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions; 8) Opportunity classes; 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation; 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in dressage sport horse breeding classes.

Member Long Island High Score Awards Association

All points won at this show will count towards the annual Long Island High Score Awards. In order to be eligible for an award in any LIHSAA Section, the horse, pony or rider must have shown in that section in at least six member shows.

Rider must be a Junior Member of the LIPHA as of the date he/she competes in a Pre Mini PHA Medal Class in order for points to count. 5. Pre-Mini Medal. Class to follow LIHSAA Specifications. 6. MINI EQUITATION – Entry fee $35.00 per class 7. Mini PHA: To run in accordance with current PHA equitation rules. Rider must be a Junior

Member of the LIPHA as of the date he/she competes in a Mini PHA Medal Class in order for points to count. Fences not to exceed 3’.

8. Robert Hoskins Junior Medal: Open to Junior riders who have not reach their 18th birthday and who have not won three (3) blue ribbons in a USEF Medal or ASPCA Maclay class prior to the closing date for entries for this show. To be shown over a course of not less than eight obstacles not exceeding 3’ which must include a combination including an oxer, and two changes of direction. Two or more tests of the top four contestants are required. Test 1-19. Only one rider per horse.

9. Hugh J.B. Cassidy III Junior Maclay: Open to Junior riders who have not reached their 18th

birthday and who have not won three (3) blue ribbons in a USEF Medal or ASPCA Maclay class prior to the closing date for entries for this show. All contestants are required to perform over at least eight obstacles not exceeding 3’ with or without wings. A minimum of 12 riders if available is required to show at a walk, trot and canter. To be judged on seat, hands, guidance and control of the horse. The Under Saddle, performance of those riders selected to show under saddle shall count 50%. Tests 1-19. Only one rider per horse.

10. M&S Children’s Medal - HORSE Open to Junior riders on horses who are not competing in any hunter or equitation class where fences exceed 3’3”. Riders may NOT cross-enter into M&S Pony Medal. 11. M&S Children’s Medal – PONY Open to Junior riders on ponies who are not competing in any other hunter or equitation in where fences exceed 3’3”. Riders may NOT cross-enter into M&S Horse Medal.

OPEN EQUITATION – Entry fee $40.00 per class. Fences 3’6”. Classes will be run according to USEF Specifications.

12. National PHA 13. Pessoa/U.S. Hunter Seat Medal, presented by Randolph College 14. NHSAA/ASPCA Maclay

LIHSAA ADULT EQUITATION – Entry fee $35.00 per class Riders in the following Adult Equitation classes may not compete in classes where fences exceed 3’6” at the same horse show. Classes may combine with Mini Equitation if one section has less than 3 entries.

15. Adult PHA: To be run in accordance with current PHA equitation rules. Rider must be a member of the LIPHA as of the date he/she competes in an Adult PHA Medal Class in order for points to count. Fences at 3’0”

SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION: LIHSAA Award A rider who enters and shows in a Short Stirrup Division (equitation or hunter) shall not be eligible to enter any other section or division at that show. Riders must be age 12 or under as of December 1st of the current show year. In order to split the section 8 are needed, at least 3 in each section. Section to be split by age. 10 and under and 11-12.. Permissible tests for the Short Stirrup Equitation is USEF Hunter Seat Equitation Test No. 1 (Halt and / or back). Courses for all Short Stirrup classes must consist of at least six cross rails not to exceed 18”. In Short Stirrup Hunter Section courses must contain one change of direction.

To be eligible horses/ponies must be entered in the entire Children/Adult Amateur Hunter division. Horses/ponies must be entered/scratched before the start of the Children/Adult Amateur Hunter division. Absolutely no adds or scratches to this class once the division has started. The first round of the classic will be the last over fences class of the respective section.

LOW ADULT HUNTERS: LIHSAA Award Fences 2’3” – 2’6”. Open to horses & ponies ridden by an Adult amateur rider, according to USEF rules, who has not shown in Hunter, Jumper or Equitation division with a fence height in excess of 2’6”more than 3 times in the previous year.. Riders may not cross enter into any other division at that show where fences are higher than 2’9”. May be combined with Low Children Hunters if one section has less than 3 entries.

Minors who do not have a valid drivers license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters,or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or legal guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian (a), and/or trainer (s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusions of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6, Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
