JUMP ROPE & HOOPS FOR HEART

During Catholic Schools Week, our school participated in The American Heart Association’s Jump Rope & Hoops For Heart! Each student came home with a packet containing informa-tion on how they can participate in raising money to help others who have cardiovascular dis-ease, including kids! Please read through the information in the packet. Students are not re-quired to solicit donations, but each child participated in the Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart activities in class. You can help with the fundraising portion by asking friends and family to give in support of your child’s efforts. To learn more about The American Heart Association, Jump Rope For Heart, how children are affected by heart disease and how to keep your own family healthy, visit americanheart.org/jump. Our events took place during regularly scheduled PE classes. Students should return fundraising packets no later than Monday,

February 6th. No forms will be accepted after this date. Thank you, Mrs. Stephens

Pre-School/Pre-Kindergarten

2012201220122012----2013 SCHOOL REGISTRATION2013 SCHOOL REGISTRATION2013 SCHOOL REGISTRATION2013 SCHOOL REGISTRATION Registration for the 2012-2013 school year is officially open to all current school families! Families should access the school’s website to download the 2012-2013 packet. Stewardship continues to be the focus at St. James Parish. St. James Parishioners will be asked to make their commitment to the parish by completing their pledge card in June. Each family will be receiving pre-printed Contact Information Sheets with current family information. These forms are to verify or update any information. Please make changes and then sign the form. Once signed and completed, the form needs to be returned to the school office to be used as a refer-ence for our family data base. The data base contains impor-tant information including home and email addresses to en-able the staff to contact parents in an efficient manner when needed. The enrollment process is complete when all packet information is returned to the school office and appropriate fees are paid. Current school families should return their packets by Friday, February 24th, as en-rollment will then open up to families on our waiting list. If you have any questions regarding enrollment or accessing the website, please contact the school office at 816-781-4428.

Special Note to families in

Pre-school, Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten The deadline for early enrollment ended on Tuesday, January 31st. At this time if you wish to enroll your student for next year, please send in your completed registration packet as soon as possible, as we will begin enrolling families on the waiting list. Thank you.

Google would like to invite K-12 students in the U.S. to participate in our fifth annual U.S. Doodle 4

Google contest. Draw your rendition of the Google logo and you may see it on the ultimate gallery:

the Google homepage. The winning doodler will also take home a $30,000 college scholarship and a

$50,000 technology grant for his or her school.

The theme for this year’s contest is “If I could travel in time, I’d visit...”. That could mean visiting a

past, present or future setting—whether it’s traveling back in time to the signing of the Declaration

of Independence, to the future to witness everyday space travel, or to just a few moments ago to

relive a poignant experience.

There will be five finalists and one winner per state, so everyone will have a local doodle champion to

cheer on. From these 50 State Winners, we’ll find 5 National Finalists and the lucky National Winner.

We’re also partnering with Crayola this year and the winning doodler’s artwork will appear on a

special edition of the 64-crayon box—a first!

Participating is easier than ever, since we’ve eliminated the registration step. All you need to do is

submit your child’s or student’s artwork by March 20 with a signed and completed entry form. On

May 2, we’ll put the 50 state winners up for public vote. All 50 State Winners will be flown to New

York City for the national awards ceremony on May 17, with the winning doodle appearing on May

18.

The doodles by the 50 State Winners will be displayed at The New York Public Library's historic

Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. We’ll also be partnering with museums across the country to

display the artwork of the state finalists in areas near their homes.

For more details, check out google.com/doodle4google,

where you’ll find full contest rules and entry forms.

Happy doodling and good luck!

Our student’s artwork is on display at local businesses during Catholic Schools Week. We thank the following businesses for their support and displaying our art: Clay County Savings Bank, Surber’s State Farm Insurance Office and Zona Rosa. Our students proudly represented St. James School by using their personal best effort in their artwork! Congratulations to the fol-lowing students:

All artwork will be placed on display at our school upon return. We hope you have time to view the variety of projects from the various grade levels.
