He worked in the corporate field in the financial sector with two banks, Barclays bank Kenya, (B.B.K) and Kenya Commercial bank (K.C.B). He moved to the U.S.A in 2008 and discerned once again his religious vocation with Glenmary Home Missioners, OH, gaining a pastoral experience of working in the poor rural south of the Appalachia regions of the United States. Family Faith Formation (Religious Education)

Classes meet on Tuesdays for Grades 1-6 in the classroom at 5:30-7PM and Wednesdays for Grades 7-8 in the ACL

at 6:30-8PM. Parents meet their children on Tuesdays at 6:45PM in Church and Wednesdays at 7:45PM in the ACL.

Gospel Weekly Family Discussion:

Gospel of John 4:5-42 - Jesus has a conversa-tion with a Samaritan woman at a well. He tells the woman that He can give her living water so she will never be thirsty again. Jesus reveals that He is the Messiah, and the woman spreads Jesus’ Good News to others.

Question of the Week:

♦ How do you share the Good News of Jesus with others?

Gospel Questions:

♦ What convinces the Samaritan woman that Jesus is the Messiah?

♦ What Good News does the Samaritan woman bring to the people of her village?

♦ Name some of the ways Jesus wants us to act when we have His Spirit.

Life Questions:

♦ What antagonisms between people would you most like to end?

♦ Who has helped you do works of service as Jesus did?

♦ Who do you speak up for?

Family Prayer:

♦ Thank you, Jesus, for sharing your gifts with us. Help us to share these gifts with others. Amen.

Reading II: Romans 5:1-2, 5-8 ♦ We are at peace with God through Christ.

Background: The wonder of God’s free gift of salvation in Jesus is subject of the passage from Paul’s Letter to the Romans. God responds to our need with compassion and mercy. God’s love is poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

Gospel: John 4:5-42 ♦ Whoever drinks the water I give, will never thirst

again.

Background: In the story of the Samaritan woman, Jesus uses water as a symbol of God’s revelation and God’s Spirit. The exchange between Jesus and the woman causes conversion to take place. The woman identifies Jesus several times, each time with greater understanding. First, He was a Jewish man, then a prophet, and finally she makes a com-ment about the Messiah.

Theme: Jesus is the Living Water.

Reading I: Exodus 17:3-7 ♦ Is the Lord in our midst or not?

Background: In the Exodus reading, the Israelites grumble about their experience in the desert. Their thirst represents Israel’s real question, “Why did God make us leave Egypt?” Yahweh responds graciously to the needs of the people.

Question for Adults: When you are tempted to try to satisfy your “thirst for meaning” through some other means, what keeps you coming back to the living water of intimacy with Christ? Through what means do you experience Christ’s power in your life: Sacraments? Scripture? Prayer? Others?

Question for Youth: Jesus revealed himself to an outcast of society. How can you be “living water” to the outcasts of your school? Society? The world?

Question for Children: How do you experience Jesus helping and loving you?

Amen.

A Sincere Thank you!

The Knights of Columbus would like to thank 10 fellow Knights, parishioners, and other organization and church members that participated as part of the Feed My Starving Children food packing event held Saturday, February 15th at the Aurora facility. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of 160 total volunteers, 268 boxes of food (7.44 pallets) were packed - a total of 57,888 meals worth $13,893. This is the equivalent of feeding 158 children for a year. The food was being shipped to Uganda and Haiti or Venezuela. The Knights graciously donated $100 to help defray the cost of the food. Again, thank you!

St. Irene Vocation Prayer

In every age Lord, You raise up women and men who are strong in their faith

and bold in their actions to give witness to the Gospel.

Fill St. Irene Parish Community with Your Spirit and give us a burning desire

to make a difference in our world. Because of our love for You, Bless our Church

with holy and courageous priests, deacons, religious sisters and brothers,

devoted married couples, dedicated single men and women, and enthusiastic youth. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
