Confirmation Sign-up for Children in 1st

Grades Parents: In late September/early October, we will begin accepting applications for Confirmation/Holy Communion for children in grades 1-8. Applications will only be available after weekend Masses. Classes begin January 2020 for parents only and then once the 12-week parent course is completed, we will begin work-ing with your children. In the meantime, please prepare docu-ments in advance. You will need a copy of the child’s baptism cer-tificate (or birth certificate if the child is not baptized) in order to apply.

The family must be registered members of St. Henry Catholic par-ish, so if you have not registered with us yet, do so immediately.

There is no fee for sacraments which includes classes that pre-pare one for sacraments.

Pentecost Sunday, June 9th

Pentecost ("the fiftieth day") is a Christian holiday commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles on the fiftieth day after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Apostles began to speak publicly and boldly to people in Jerusalem about Jesus. People who spoke various foreign languages were able to under-stand them in their own native tongues! So the miracle was really more a miracle of hearing in tongues rather than one of speak-ing in tongues.

In Christian tradition Pentecost is a moveable feast observed ex-actly seven weeks after Easter Day, i.e. 50 days after Easter. It always falls on the seventh Sunday after Easter Day. In Eastern Christian churches the date of Pentecost is calculated in the same manner but it usually differs due to the use of the ancient Julian calendar instead of the Gregorian. Pentecost is a holy day of obli-gation in the Catholic Church, but then again, so is every Sunday of the year.

Registro de Confirmación

Para Niños en Grados 1º - 8º Padres: A fines de septiembre, comenzaremos a aceptar solicitudes de confirmación/ comunión para niños en los grados 1-8. Las solicitudes solo estarán disponibles después de las Misas de fin de semana.

Las clases comenzarán en enero de 2020 solo para padres y luego, una vez que se complete el curso de 12 semanas para padres, comenzaremos a trabajar con sus hijos. Mientras tanto, por favor prepare los documentos con anticipación. Necesitará una copia del certificado de bautismo del niño (o certificado de nacimiento si el niño no está bautizado) para poder aplicar.

La familia debe estar registrada como miembro de la parroquia católica St. Henry, así que si aún no se ha registrado con nosotros, hágalo de inmediato. No hay costo por los sacramentos que incluye clases que preparan a uno para los sacramentos.

Domingo de Pentecostés, 9 de Junio Pentecostés ("el quincuagésimo día") es una fiesta cristiana que conmemora el descenso del Espíritu Santo sobre los apóstoles en el quincuagésimo día después de la resurrección de Jesucristo. Los apóstoles comenzaron a hablar públicamente y con audacia a las personas en Jerusalén acerca de Jesús. ¡Las personas que hablaban varios idiomas extranjeros podían en-tenderlos en sus propias lenguas nativas! Así que el milagro fue realmente más un milagro de escuchar en lenguas en lugar de ha-blar en lenguas.
