ST FRANCIS XAVIER LURNEA
Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year B 21st & 22nd July 2012
We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand. We walk on a land once occupied by the Darug Clan, the Cabrogal, a sub
group of the Gandangara tribe who lived in this area for over 30,000 years. May we continue to love and respect the land as they have.

This week we had parish visitation from Bishop Terry Brady. The Bishop arrived at lunch time on Wednesday, visited our two primary schools and attended the Parish Pastoral Council meeting in the evening. The Bishop was very impressed with the children and staff in both primary schools and also viewed the construction of the Child Care Centre at Prestons. Bishop Terry would like to come back to the parish at some stage and celebrate the Sunday Liturgies. I am currently working out dates with his secretary. Last Tuesday Mark Turkington, the Regional Director of the Catholic Education Office for the Southern Region, joined me in attending St Francis Xavier’s Primary to announce that the new principal commencing term one next year is to be Ms Frances Bonanno. Fran had an opportunity to meet with the staff and we welcome her to our community. Don’t forget our farewell next Sunday for Mary-Louise Green. The Sydney Alliance has asked us to host a district assembly on the 26th August. This will include many local dignitaries from both government and business as well as church leaders. This will be a significant event for our parish so please keep this date free and more details will follow shortly. As you know the Sydney Alliance is a coalition of organisations working to build a better society.
We pray for those who are sick, especially:
Siobham O’Connor, Mary Murphy Phillip Power, Pat Lord, Tess Jennings, Benjamin Smith, Margaret McKenna,
Maria Sammut, Russel Bamba, James Duker, Raylene Beckett, Alan Marshall,
Edith Marucci, Roy Elkazzi , Dorothy Elliotte, Robert Jagoring, Chinette Tutaan,
Robert Heathcote, Janice McKelvie, Sylvia & Trevor Jones, Lolita Abbott
RESPONSE: The Lord is my Shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: Alleluia, alleluia! My sheep listen to my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me. Alleluia!
Please note:
Names will be removed from the sick list after
2 months, unless parish office is notified.
