Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

For the greater glory of God...

Dear Parish Family,

If you were to ask me to name one of the best

experiences I had while attending Franciscan

University of Steubenville as a college student,

hands down, it would be the Festivals of Praise.

As a bright eyed eighteen-year-old, I had never

seen anything like it. We would gather together

in the chapel for an evening of lively praise and

worship, talks, prayer ministry and confessions

for a couple of hours. It was truly edifying and

nourished my soul in ways that I had never

experienced before. It felt right and fitting to

worship God in this way, with the Blessed

Sacrament exposed for adoration.

This is what I hope to reproduce here next

Sunday, October 13, from 7:00—8:30 pm in the

Parish Hall. Two married couples, who are dear

friends to me and alumni from Franciscan

University will be leading the praise and worship.

They are experienced with this type of music

ministry and have already started offering it to

families so they can have praise and worship in

their homes with their children. It’s catching on

quickly and is really quite beautiful.

The basis for this type of praise is that we are

all wired to worship God. God made us to

worship him alone. The Bible affirms this truth

throughout the Scriptures... Psalm 100 says:

“Worship the Lord with gladness, come before

him with joyful songs.” Psalm 146:1: “Praise the

Lord, O my soul!” Psalm 105:2: Sing to him, sing

praises to him; tell of his wondrous works!”

Psalm 150: “Let everything that has breath

praise the Lord!” I hope you will consider joining

us next Sunday, and please bring a friend.

Faithfully, in Christ,

Father Rob
