HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW ‘PRESERVATION MARYLAND’

SITE AND INTERPRETIVE PANELS?

There are three panels: A site panel, located next to the church, and two interpretive panels,

located on the northwest side of the Manor House.

Pictured below is one of the panels. Be sure to view all of them in person!

The goal of the panels is to share a little of the historical significance of the beloved St. Francis

Xavier Church and the Newtowne Manor House. St. Francis Xavier Church and Newtowne

Manor House were researched and placed on the Maryland Register of Historic Places in 1972.

For more information, visit http://www.preservationmaryland.org/?s=newtowne.

The RCIA (Rite of

Christian Initiation

of Adults) is an

exploration of

Catholic teachings,

traditions, and

practices.

Participants attend

weekly sessions

beginning in the fall

each year. It is a

process whereby

adults become fully participating members of

the Catholic Church. Is there someone you

can invite to explore the Catholic faith –

someone unbaptized, or baptized in a non-

Catholic Christian tradition? Perhaps you

know a Catholic adult interested in being

confirmed. Please contact Fr. Rob at

[email protected] for more

information.

MONTH OF JULY

Priests and their

Pastoral Ministry

That priests, who

experience fatigue and

loneliness in their pastoral work, may find help

and comfort in their intimacy with the Lord and

in their friendship with their brother priests.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

For the greater glory of God...

Dear Parish Family,

Some of you may know that before I entered the

seminary I worked as the Director of Religious

Education for Blessed Sacrament Parish in D.C.

I would always tell people that, without question,

my favorite part of that job was coordinating the

R.C.I.A. The R.C.I.A. stands for the Rite of

Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process by

which persons who were never baptized, or who

were baptized in another Christian tradition,

become members of the Catholic Church.

Most of all, I loved it because of the people.

They were hungry to learn more about God and

what the Catholic Church teaches about our faith

in Jesus Christ. My interaction with them helped

me to better learn my faith and strengthened my

own beliefs and convictions. I’m forever grateful

to God because I considered it a great honor and

privilege to walk alongside the men and women

making a journey of faith like that.

Last year, it was a great joy for me to resume

coordinating the R.C.I.A. here at St. Francis

Xavier. We were so blessed to welcome three

new Catholics into the Church at the Easter Vigil.

I am now in the process of forming a new R.C.I.A.

class to begin this coming September. A person

does not have to be certain he or she wants to

convert to Catholicism when the classes begin.

All that is needed is an open mind and heart.

If you know of someone who might be

interested, please encourage them to contact me.

Peace and blessings,

Fr. Rob
