School Board Meeting Minutes

March 23, 2017 7:00 pm

Board Members in Attendance: Betty Anthony Robert Heinzmann Mary Kay Kutka Fr. Joseph Son Thanh Phan Tim Scalzitti Zac Smith Principal Diane Wooten

Absent: Patricia Gunnells, Juanita Jaimes Guests in Attendance: None

I. Opening Prayer: Mrs. Wooten led the opening prayer.

II. Public Forum: None.

III. Approval of Board Meeting Minutes: The minutes will be reviewed at the next meeting.

IV. Pastor’s Report: Fr. Joseph’s report included the following: bazaar raffle tickets and upcoming

confession times. Fr. Joseph then excused himself to attend meeting.

V. Principal’s Report: See the attached Principal Report for a list of activities which Mrs. Wooten discussed in detail. Some highlights mentioned were business manager interviews, school nurse, Stations of the Cross, 8th Grade Retreat and lock in, and 8th graders high school acceptances.

VI. Treasurer’s Report: None

VII. Committee Liaison Reports:

a. Booster Club –Bingo night was a success.

b. Finance Council – None, meeting later in April.

c. Pastoral Council – Bazaar planning.

d. PTO – None.

e. Marketing Committees – Discussed under New Business.

f. Development Committees – Discussed under New Business.

VIII. Old Business:

a. Bylaws – The Bylaws were reviewed, updates drafted and will be discussed at a future meeting.

b. Names of Prospective Board Members – Each board member was even a few potential

future board members to ask them to consider being a future board member.

IX. New Business:

a. April 11th – Day of Giving – Mr. Scalzitti explained the schedule for the Day of Giving and the role that social media would play. A new page has been added to the school website and all should reference #ValiantsGiveBack.

b. End of Year Faculty Party – The Board members discussed possible dates and venues

for the end of year faculty party.

X. Upcoming February/March Events – The Board reviewed upcoming events (a listing can be seen on the agenda).

XI. Closing Prayer: Mr. Smith led the closing prayer.
