Parish Mission Statement The Catholic community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, united in the love of God, comes together to worship the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, to provide for the spiritual growth of each member, to minister to one another’s needs, to be servants and neighbors to all, to strengthen and share faith, to experience the richness of Jesus Christ. The Catholic community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, aware of its call to be the good news, accomplishes its mission through worship, education, service and personal example. May God Bless and keep safe in his care our Service Men and Women whose lives are in danger every day. They heroically serve to defend and maintain freedom around the world as well as at home. Our prayer for them reflects our great admiration and love for them. May God bless them, watch over them, and protect them always.

Prayer for Vocations “Lord of the harvest, BLESS young people with the gift of courage to respond to your call. Open their hearts to great ideals, to great things. INSPIRE all of your disciples to mutual love and giving – for vocations blossom in the good soil of faithful people, INSTILL those in religious life, parish ministries, and families with the confidence and grace to invite others to embrace the bold and noble path of a life consecrated to you. UNITE us to Jesus through prayer and sacrament, so that we may cooperate with you in building your reign of mercy and truth, of justice and peace. Amen.” (Pope Francis)

Anna Asks% should there be silence in Church before Masshould there be silence in Church before Masshould there be silence in Church before Masshould there be silence in Church before Mass?s?s?s? How about answering with a question Where do you encounter

silence in your daily life? Chances are, the answer is ‘in very few places.’ As the prophet Elijah found on the mountaintop (1 Kings 19), quiet allows the Lord’s voice to be heard. We must choose silence, internally and externally. It is no easy task to turn off the noise. However, there is a great reward in doing so. We hear God more easily. For that reason, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal speaks very specifically about silence before the liturgy: “Even before the celebration itself, it is commendable that silence be observed in the church, in the sacristy, in the vesting room, and in adjacent areas, so that all may dispose themselves to carry out the sacred action in a devout and fitting manner” (No. 45). We are blessed to have a large Gathering Space which allows us to connect and catch up before and after Mass (albeit in a more passing way during this pandemic). We are also blessed to have the Real Presence of Jesus in the tabernacle in the Worship Space, which gives us the opportunity to pray quietly and prepare for the celebration of Mass. With this in mind, please utilize the Gathering Space for conversation and catching up and allow the quiet of the Worship Space to draw us into the mysteries we are preparing to celebrate. That is an exercise in hospitality and a gift to your parish family that is so hard to come by in our world today. Church and Office Hours The office has returned to normal hours (9am-3pm Monday to Thursday). The Church is open for private prayer until 7pm daily. Please respect the social distancing requirements of six-feet and wear a mask when interacting with staff and other parishioners.

Daily Mass returns to regular schedule With the attendance capacity increased to 200 in the Worship Space and the technology adjustments in place, Mass has returned to the regular schedule. We will continue to stream daily: Monday at 9:00AM, Tuesday at 6:45AM, Wednesday at 9:00AM, Thursday at 6:45AM, Friday at 6:45AM & 9:00AM

Saturday Confessions Saturday Confessions have returned to their regular time of 4:00PM. In order to allow for social distancing and privacy, Confessions will be held in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Please line up in the Gathering Space if the chapel doors are closed. As always, you can contact Fr. O’Connor to schedule a Confession.

Prayer for Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

American Red Cross Blood Drive St. Elizabeth Ann Seton will host weekly blood drives (some weeks more often) during COVID-19. For a limited time, blood donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies. Check the activity calendar on our website for dates and times (www.stelizabethbville.org). Please call 1-800-REDCROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code STM to schedule an appointment.

A Prayer for Independence Day God our Father, giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Send your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s people and leaders to the truth that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing your will. Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, patroness of our land, protect us always, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Electronic Offerings Thank you to the numerous parishioners who continue to send in their offering envelopes. Perhaps you are looking for another way to do that. If you have online billing with your bank, you can request the bank to mail a paper check to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at no cost to you or the parish. This can be set up on a recurring or one-time basis. We ask that you note your envelope number on the check either as the account number or in the memo line. Often this can be set up online through the “Bill Pay” section of your bank account website. Vocation Perspective “You are in the spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you.” Is the Holy Spirit leading you or someone you know to serve Christ and His Church as a priest or in the consecrated life? Call Father Jason Hage (315)470-1468, or write: [email protected].

The Word of God & Mother Seton “…Many seek to love God by different methods but there is none so short and so easy as to do everything for his love, to set this seal on all our actions, and keep ourselves in his presence by the commerce of our heart with him in full simplicity without embarrassment or disguise; good will, simplicity, and confidence, are the Keys of the Sanctuary of Divine Love.”—Mother Seton The disciples’ willingness to embrace the mystery of Jesus has nothing to do with intelligence or level of education; rather, they are recipients of a grace that comes from the Father in heaven. In other words, the simple prerequisite to being a follower of Jesus is that we must have ears open to His words, and the humility of heart to receive and accept what He offers. While many scribes and Pharisees spent their life studying, the heart of Law and Prophets can be absorbed and lived by everyone. We must simply heed Jesus’ command: Come to me. (cf. Mt. 11:25-30)

A Prayer Chain is in place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Serving on the Prayer Chain is a way for good people to serve God and to bring blessings to others who will be grateful for the prayers of Prayer Chain Members. If prayers for self or for others are needed and desired, please call the Parish Office at 652-4300 and your prayer requests will be forwarded to Angie Peterson.

Novena Prayer for an end to the Coronavirus Pandemic

O Mary, full of grace, Patroness of this nation and Mother of the Church, in this time of illness and world-wide

need, we seek your intercession for the human family before your Son’s throne of grace and mercy. We ask for

strength in adversity, health in weakness, and comfort in sorrow. Help us, O Blessed Mother, to be filled with

confidence and trust in the tender compassion of our God. Let us not be afraid, like our own Saint Marianne

Cope, who entrusted her life and ministry among the outcasts of society into the care of our Divine Physician.

Continue to watch over all who are sick as well as those who care for them and give wisdom to all who are

seeking a cure. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
