The Heart Of The Cross A One-Woman Passion Play
with Olivia Woodford “It was more than “…faith-filled “ Stunning and effective A play. I felt like a beautiful portrayal of witness to actual events.” performance.” gospel women.”
Scripture comes to life with this beautiful script and performance.
Be transported back in time to the foot of the cross and the heart of the Passion as Olivia portrays the women who witnessed the events surrounding Jesus’
death and resurrection.
The presentation features Veronica watching Jesus carry the cross; the Repentant Prostitute at the foot of the cross; Mary, Jesus’ Mother washing him for burial; Mary Magdalene at the tomb for the Resur-
rection; and Martha at Pentecost.
The play brings to life the spirit of Easter through
the love, faith, and triumph of of the gospel women as they each experience a personal awakening that brings them closer to Jesus.
This is one of five plays featuring Women of the Bi-
ble that Olivia has created and presents to churches
and schools of all denominations throughout the country and internationally.
Olivia Woodford is an actress, storyteller, found-
er of Healing Theatre and a member of The Network
of Storytellers, Int’l. She has a BFA in Theater from
Boston University and has performed in regional
and offBroadway theaters and has taught theatre
in public and private schools and to special needs
groups. Through her ministry,
Bible Women Speak, Olivia tours throughout the

woman plays and facilitate retreats focused on

Meditation of the Heart by Carolyn M. Kenney
According to Webster's Dictionary, the word Lent comes from the Old English word lengthen which means the
spring. As Spring comes upon us we become hopeful and joyful just as the Apostles were joyful upon learning of the Resurrection of Jesus. They overcame the obstacles and fears of doubt and of sadness at the death of Jesus and of the distress inflicted upon them by the Romans. Their faith saved them and helped them to grow in deeper under-standing and love of God. We also have numerous diffi-culties and barriers which we face on a daily basis and which block our path of living a full and meaningful life. These last few days of Lent, let us focus on Jesus and His life on earth for He was like us in all things but sin. Through His love, we can overcome sin as well as our anxieties and fears. Focus on Jesus as He walked the path to Calvary - for you and for me.

LENTEN REGULATIONS Abstinence-- Catholics over 14 years of age are bound to the obligation of abstinence. Abstinence is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent. On days of abstinence, meat may not be used at all.
Fast -- Catholics over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to the obligation of fasting. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the days of fast-ing. On these days, only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed.
Regarding other weekdays of Lent, participation in daily Mass and the voluntary observance of fasting is recommended. Commendable, particularly during Lent, is generosity to local, national and world pro-grams of sharing our abundance, the traditional Len-ten Devotions and all the self-denial summed up in the Christian concept of “mortification.”
SOUP & STATIONS
Please join us for soup, bread and water at 6pm in the low-er hall of St. Dorothy’s followed by Stations of the Cross at 7pm in the Church.
This year several of our Ministries will be hosting a week and this might be a nice time to meet some members of our Parish and find out a little more about what we offer as a Parish Family.
Ministry Serving:
Friday March 24th Woman’s Club
Friday March 31st Faith Formation
Friday April 7th Transportation
We invite you all to attend and share a modest meal and conversation prior to attending the Stations of the Cross. We also would like to thank the overwhelming response from the Ministries who have offered to serve.
A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR
I am happy to report that the response to my note about a canonical merger of the two parishes has been overwhelmingly positive. We will hold a “town meet-ing” in each parish after Easter where you can come and hear more about canonical merger as well as ask any questions you may have. I want to again point that neither church is closing. Each church will still be known as St. Thomas of Villanova and St Doro-thy’s. We will have to decide on a more religious type name instead of the Catholic Community of Wil-mington and South Tewksbury. Watch for the dates of those “town meetings”.
Last Sunday was commitment Sunday for the Catholic Appeal. I want to thank everyone for listening to what was said and for participating in the in-pew ef-fort. Each week I will print the latest results. I have not received the results from last Sunday yet. Howev-er I do have some results from those who mailed them in directly.
St. Thomas: Goal $37,993

St. Dorothy’s: Goal $29,409

Thanks to all who have given. I appreciate it.
I hope you are keeping track of and participating in the various Lenten programs in the parishes.
Well I guess that is it for now. Until next time, take care. Fr. Earley
