PASTOR’S PEN

Dear People of God,

I hope and pray that all is well with you and your loved ones as we enter the celebration of the Paschal Mystery!

These days are called by a name that no others are designated. The term “Holy Week” is a powerful statement. It proclaims to the world that God is at work. This week uni-fies all Christian faiths by the central-ity of God’s love for His people.

Yet, this proclamation requires our embracing the celebration. Palm Sunday is a perfect example of how we accept this call. At Church we bless palms and have provided several safe options for our community to re-ceive them. None the less, folks must leave the normalcy of their homes to participate in the tradition.

Accordingly, to truly make this week holy, we must depart from the normalcy of our lives. If we want this week to be holy, we must make it ho-ly! This year, because of the gift that the pandemic has given us in our growth in digital technology, everyone has the opportunity to participate in the Triduum Services. Our livestream will also be “cached” for continuous availability.

PALM SUNDAY Certainly, this is the embodiment of the new life of the Resurrection that we are preparing to celebrate. The litur-gies of Holy Week are a gift from our Church that are now universally available. What a blessing God has given us this year!

May our observance of Holy Week enable us to experience the power of Easter!
