NEW SCHEDULE FOR LITURGICAL MINISTERS Copies of our ministry schedule for June – August are available at the main door of the church and online. WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED IN 50 YEARS?
REVISITING THE TRUTHS OF HUMANAE VITAE “The transmission of human life is a most serious role in which married
people collaborate freely and responsibly with God the Creator. It has
always been a source of great joy to them, even though it sometimes
entails many difficulties and hardships.
The fulfillment of this duty has always posed problems to the conscience of married people, but the recent course of human society and the concomitant
changes have provoked new questions. The Church cannot ignore these questions,
for they concern matters intimately connected with the life and happiness of human
beings.”
“Of Human Life” (Humanae Vitae) was issued on July 25, 1968. This letter from Pope Paul VI is described as “the most misunderstood papal intervention of this century.” On its 50th anniversary, are we better prepared to embrace the church’s constant teaching on the transmission of life? Follow our 9-part series of excerpts here (or read the entire encyclical online) to see how the prophetic voice of Blessed Pope Paul VI is ringing true in 2018.
ADULT FORMATION: 33 DAYS TO MORNING GLORY!A group will be gathering at 6-7 pm on Mondays from June 11 to July 16 in Nilles Hall to study and pray “33 Days to Morning Glory: A Do-it-yourself Retreat in Preparation for Marian Consecration” from Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC. This study is a 33-day journey to Marian consecration with four giants of Marian spirituality: St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and Pope St. John Paul II. Participants will combine daily reading and prayer with weekly videos and discussions. Contact Sharlene Zuhlke with questions or to RSVP at 325-7559.
BIBLES AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE We have a few giant print and large print Bibles available for purchase, as well as indexing tabs for use on any Bible. Stop by the parish center or call 325-9506 for details.!!
BAPTISM WELCOME We welcomed Penelope Grace Schneiter into our church family through the waters of baptism on May 27. Congratulations Calli, Jesse and big sister Charlotte!
THE FIRST SATURDAYS OF REPARATION Beginning this weekend and continuing for 5 consecutive First Saturdays (or the following Sundays) is a special devotion to our Blessed Mother. If you pray the rosary and meditate on the mysteries for 15 minutes to console her, she will give you all the graces necessary for salvation. Please see additional information located in the vestibule.
