DRI PEER TUTORING WORKSHOP
On Tuesday the 13th of March the Dolphin Research Institute Ambassadors (Astrid, Madison, Tom
and Emma) went to a workshop at OLA Primary School. We learned to teach younger students about sea creatures and keeping our oceans clean. We all had different activities to practise and finally present to the Year 1/2 students. Here are our thoughts about the day. Astrid – My presentation was about the Australian Fur Seal and the Longnose Fur seal. I did actions for the children to copy. It was easier than I thought, but it was hard to remember all my words. Madison – My presentation was about sea sponges. I found out two new facts; the first one was that sea sponges have been around for 600 million years and the second one is that the sea sponge can reform itself. Emma – I chose to do the introduction. I had to ask the students what animals live in the ocean and to describe the ocean. I thought it was going to be hard to talk but it was really fun and interactive. Tom – I was speaking about rubbish in the ocean and how it’s hard for dolphins to find food.
First we were taught by Mandy who is from D.R.I. Maddy
Then we practised presenting to the other ambassadors from different schools. Emma
After we had practised we presented to the 1/2 students.
