Adult Question of the Week

What is a “holy” place?

February 5, 2017

5th Sunday in Ordinary Time “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” - MATTHEW 5:16 The generosity of being a good steward of your gifts has a positive effect on people and it is contagious! Good works encourage more good works. Let your light shine! Be careful to recognize that God is working through you and don’t put yourself above the people you have been called to help. I SEE MYSELF! One day I looked at myself, At the self that Christ can see; I saw the person I am today And the one I ought to be. I saw how little I really pray, How little I really do; I saw the influence of my life-- How little of it was true. I saw the bundle of faults and fears I ought to lay on the shelf; I had given a little bit to God, BUT I HADN'T GIVEN MYSELF. I came from seeing myself, With the mind made up to be The sort of a person that Christ can use with a heart He may always see. REMEMBER: He gave His all for you. All He asks in return is for us to lean on Him and to live our lives un-der His guidance. Is this so difficult? THINK ABOUT IT! (adapted from Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations)

Answer: A place set apart for God because of special religious significance. Jerusalem is a holy place because Jesus lived, taught, died, and rose from The dead there. Our parish church is a holy place because it is the center of worship for our community.

Youth Question of the Week

WHO IS THE ‘MESSIAH’?

Answer: Throughout the old Testament references are made to the “Messiah”, the holy one of God, who would come and save God’s people. As Christians, we believe that Jesus is the Messiah.
