SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT GRADE 6

Students entering Grade 6 in the fall are required to read 2 books. Completion of the Summer Reading assignment (all requirements) will be equivalent to one Reading Test grade.

Book 1: 5th Grade REQUIRED BOOK

Everyone will read Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry and The Kid Who Ran for President, by Dan Gutman. These two books are mandatory books. Both selections will help the students prepare for the 6th grade social studies curriculum (World War II; Kids’ Voting/Elections)

6th Grade Book Reports and Vocabulary Lists:

Students are required to complete the 6th grade book report for both books. (2 copies have been provided). Please write in complete sentences and be sure to use your best penmanship.

Book Projcet: Choose 1 Please complete one of the Book Projects from the list below to demonstrate understanding.

Project 5: Story Wheel Poster

Directions for all the project have been provided for you and follow your book report but you are required to do only 1.
