construction for St. Anthony Road will
take place during September and

Church will occur as scheduled;
however, the road will be closed to
through traffic. All local traffic should
use caution when approaching the
construction area; expect single lane
closures and delays.
Fr. Brian’s Blarney J.O.R.D.A.N. Youth Group
The J.O.R.D.A.N. Youth Group at St.
Joseph-Erie will be the Tri-parish Youth
Group. Fr. Don LaCuesta and I met with
Pam Cousino, who with her husband, Ed,
and Mark Mercurio and Nancy Detrich, is
one of the adult leaders. The group is
actually guided by youth leaders under
adult supervision, so many of the events
are planned by the youth leadership.
Fr. Steve Vileo originally started the
J.O.R.D.A.N. Youth Group in 2005 at St.
Joseph-Erie as a way to grow deeper in
their Catholic Faith by supporting and
encouraging one another. It is considered
a peer-to-peer ministry. It was to be
based at a parish community, so as to
help integrate the youth into the parish. It
was a way for the youth to have
formation in the 4 key areas of Spiritual,
Intellectual, Social/Human, and Service/
Pastoral.
The emphasis of the activities is based
upon the group leadership, but they try to
have something that will fulfill each of
the 4 key areas. The activities include
informal gatherings and picnics, training
for ministry in the church, social justice
projects, Catholic Youth Conference, the
October Monroe Life Chain, Progressive
Dinners, retreats, speakers, discussions,
and fundraisers (if needed) to cover the
costs.
The meetings are usually on Saturday
Blood Drive Our Fall Blood Drive is scheduled for
November 20, 2014. A chair person or
persons are needed to oversee this event.
This year, the Red Cross is also asking
for help with making the phone calls.
Please call the Parish Office if you are
willing to help or would like more
information.
Wednesday & Thursday,
October 1 & 2 9am - 7pm
Please keep in your prayers all our service men
and women, especially those currently serving in Iraq or
Afghanistan:

evenings and they communicate through their Facebook page. Their email address is
[email protected]. Mrs. Cousino’s cell phone number is 419-290-3812 and
Mr. Cousino’s cell is 734-344-1829.
Their first formal meeting will be Saturday, September 27 from 6-9pm at St. Joseph
Erie. They are planning on going to a corn maze in October. They will be sponsoring a
table at the Monroe County Right to Life Dinner on Thursday, Oct 2nd at LaRoy Hall at
6pm with guest speaker, Teresa Tomeo. They will be going to the Monroe Life Chain on
October 5th and Set Afire at St. Joe’s Erie on October 18th.

St. John Bosco’s Roaming Oratory – Young Men’s
Formation Group
Doug Nelson is heading up the St. John Bosco’s Roaming
Oratory for the Monroe Vicariate. He sent me a note about
the Oratory for 2014-15. The Roaming Oratory is a formation
group for young men aged 12—18 from ANY parish who are
seeking a way to experience our Catholic faith the way that
the saints did growing up, learning directly from the men who
represent Christ in our lives daily, our Priests! Each meeting
will take place at a local Parish, featuring teaching given by
one of our local Priests. The young men will also have time
for bonding with other like-minded young men during the
various activities. They will have opportunities for
confession and spiritual direction. The hope is to have a
group of young men from MANY parishes come together
every couple of weeks at a parish ANYWHERE to grow in
holiness.

Knightly News
September, 2014 Dedicated to keeping you informed on the activities of the
Fr. John A. Kenna Knights of Columbus Council 11430
In contemplating the condition of the highway we take in getting to Church, I
searched for an appropriate Bible verse but couldn’t find one that really expressed
the current condition. It did, however, cause me to look ahead a bit and made me
realize that better things are to come. If we just drive a few miles east we will see
what beautiful things can come out of a dismal current condition. This should give
us hope in our own lives, especially when things are a bit ‘rocky’ or rough. If we
rely on God to help us get through the troubles, we should be able to hope for some
‘smooth sailing’ in the future.
Thanks to all who supported our first Breakfast Buffet of the season. The
crowd was a bit light but we blame that on it being the first of the season since
people need to get back into the habit as well as the road conditions. Hope you all
come in October to support our activity and avail yourself of a great meal.
John Fackelman had his name drawn in the Attendance Game at the
September meeting. Unfortunately for John, he was not present at the meeting so
the pot will continue to grow. If you talk to John, please express your condolences
to him.
We invite all men 18 yrs. or older who are practical Catholics to join a great
